Blood Clot, post treatment
I finished chemo and radiation two weeks ago, today. Then, I finally got my urinary catheter out on Wednesday, May 28th after 15 days of having it in. That same day I suddenly had horrible pain in my left calf. I thought maybe I had been walking weird due to the cath and waited for it to improve. This morning I woke up…

Hi, Everyone
Hi, All. Haven't been on in a while. So far I am 4 and 1/2 years n.e.d.; however, the side effects from the chemo and radiation have left me permanently disabled. I was hospitalized twice for pneumonia due to scarred lung tissue from one of the chemo drugs I was given. My husband lost his battle with his second cancer last…

Need advice
I was diagnosed in October 2013 with anal cancer (they never staged it, but said it was very early). I have been anemic for several years and my numbers got so low that my doctor decided that since I was pre-menopausal I should have a hysterectomy. I was resistent. He scheduled a colonoscopy/endoscopy first to rule out…

Yippee!!
I'm so excited to say....I have turned the corner. The desquamation has almost completely resolved, but the pain is gone!! Scheduled to get my catheter removed and my port removed!! I was out this weekend planting flowers!! You really don't appreciate the little things in life until you can no longer do them. So glad to be…

How I was cured of Stage 4 anal cancer--liver metastases
I was diagnosed with Stage 4 anal cancer in January 2008. I had an anal tumor, a second tumor in my rectum, and uncountable metastatic tumors in my liver, the largest of which was 5cm in diameter. I was treated with Paclitaxel, Carboplatin, and Xeloda, every three weeks, until July of 2008. (No radiation.) This was chosen…

week one down, five to go
Very thankful to have the weekend off from treatment, I didn't think I would have any side effects week one but I have been overwhelmed with fatigue, had a bit of nausea and loss of appetite. I am generally going like the bionic bunny, have a cast iron stomach and never lose my appetite so I didn't think I'd be hit by the…

Three weeks into treatments
Things have been going well so far. Just a little nervous about what the next three weeks will bring. I have not heard much discussion about hair loss, low blood count or anyone having problems with their hands and feet. If anyone has dealt with these problems, I would like to know how they made out.

Pain when I sit (Just started to get bad a whole year after APR surgery)
Hi all, I'm a year out from my surgery and suddenly I'm having a lot more pain when I sit. Enough that I had to take off from work because my job requires me to sit for hours. Has anyone else had sudden pain after a whole year out from surgery? It's not phantom pains (I've had those here and there), it's physical pain at…

Still haven't healed from radiation after 18 months
It's been a while since I've been to this site, and I'm sorry. I finished treatment in Oct. 2012 and so far, so good as far as recurrence. I stayed in touch for a while after treatment trying to give a little back, but got out of touch. I want to rejoin this group of people who I consider family. As in the past, I'm having…

CT chest showed a subplueral density 6mm in right lower lobe lung scared.
Anal cancer in 2010 that met to liver in 2012. Been ned since resection, but last CT chest scan last week showed a subplueral density in right lower lobe of lung. My oncologist doesn't seem to be worried, but he thought my spot on liver wasn't anything either until 3 months later with biopsy that showed it metastised to…

It's back
My father was diagnosed with anal cancer (stage 1) in March of 2010. He rang the bell on radiation in July 2010. All of his scans were coming back good and his blood work has been good. In May of 2013 he started losing weight (from 8-20 lbs a month) he has gone from 310lbs to 188 lbs. We have been going to doctors and…

Stool Size = Tumor vs No Tumor?
I'm down to my last week of treatment. Chemo and radiation for just 1 more week!! Yippeee! But, I have a question. When did you notice your stool size started going back to normal? Mine are still very small, which I'm thankful for at this point, as they are still quite painful to pass. I suppose I'm looking at it as a sign…

The 'other' side of having cancer
I am now 8 years NED of SCC T3,N0,M0 and doing amazing. I am involved in local politics in my city and sit on my son's school PAC executive as well as the school district's looking after 4000 kids. I used to moderate cancer forums helping those stricken with this disease and I think I did it well. My son was a baby though…

In Treatment and new to this board
Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this site and have been reading many posts. First, I will tell you about myself and then I have a couple of questions. I'm a 57 year old VERY healthy femaile. My primary doctor jokes with me about how very healthy I am and wishes he had my cholesterol levels. I used to walk/job 2-4 miles…

Another checkup
I had another 6 month check up with colorectal dr today. He did an external exam. He wants to do a EUA and biopsy in one to two months. This took me by surprise, but he said it was procedure. I'm almost 3 years post treatment and scans and labs have been fine. I have labs and see oncologist next month. I haven't had a…

The results are in...
Finally after 4 weeks of waiting for results (yes 4 weeks) I just received a phone call from the surgeon saying the "tags, the flat lesion and the pigmented area were all cancer BUT he says it hasn't become invasive yet. He's having me get a prescription of something (can't remember the name) but it's like a chemo cream. I…

good news this week
I had a PET scan last week and met with my two oncologists. The scan this time was clear, unambiguous. Such a relief. The last scan I had resulted in a follow-up biopsy because of an elevated SUV reading. So nice to have both doctors say "good news". More good news from my medical oncologist who said unless I feel the need…

Radiation fears
For the last two years, I have been a stage IV colon cancer patient. A colon resection, a liver resection, and three different chemo cocktails later. I handled all of this fairly well and aside from adding doctor appointments to my schedule, my life remained normal. I was scheduled for a Y90 procedure to radiate the two…
