cycle 5 done but not completed
Chemo Cycle #5 infusion began at 8:15 this morning. Premeds and Taxol, which I had a small reaction to last time near the end of the infusion, went well - no reactions. Started the Carboplatin on time just after 1:00. Twelve minutes into the infusion my palm of my left hand and under my eyes began itching. Apparently a…

I've noticed some hair on my head is starting to grow back!! It's kind of sporadic and if it continues like this I may resemble Larry of the the Three Stooges but hey, maybe I could do a comb-over!! The hair coming in is perfectly white so it's hard to see but it's there!!! I can also see - using a magnifying mirror - a…

Weekly chemo vs every 3 weeks
Hi, I think TeddyandBears_Mom started out doing weekly chemos but switched to every 3 week schedule? I was wondering if smaller, but more frequent doses would keep my blood counts esp. platelets up better? I think I read where she said the weekly was worse than every 3 weeks. Also, if I mention this to my doctor and he…

Low platelets again today-no chemo
My platelets only rose 1 point, now 95. Haven't heard from doctor yet about not getting chemo on Monday, but I'm sure sometime this afternoon they will cancel because they are strict about being above 100. I've read some cancer centers and doctors believe in treating according to symptoms, not numbers. I don't have…

Hysterectomy and debulking recovery questions???
I had a full hysterectomy and debulking done Friday (last week). There were small tumors on most of my organs, but they were easily removed. He got all visible cancer, and said that chemo will get the rest. Anyway, I am normally a VERY active person (I ran 8 miles two days before diagnosis), and am not used to being…

Debra Jo... Heart
Hi Debra, I read that you had many heart problems. I am wondering why is it taking so long for him to start walking. Also the Arm they removed the clot is not functioning. He can squeeze my hand but he cannot straighten the fingers. What I mean is that he cannot open and close his hand, he can only close. Do you have any…

Port Ache
So, I've been pretty active lately, pruning roses, sawing branches, riding the bike, re-arranging cabinets, etc., and really stretching my right arm. It seems as though the area around my port, really, the whole upper part of my chest extending toward my right arm has a very mild ache. There's no heat or swelling that I…

New To All Of This - Overwhelmed
This is my first time on this site. I was recently diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I am scheduled for a hysterectomy and lymph node removal in six days. It's been a bit of a waiting game until that is done and I know exactly where I am as far as stages and how far the cancer has gone. I am feeling so overwhelmed with…

My chemo has to be postponed tomorrow-low platelets!
I think they are giving ne a massive dose of chemo - the taxol is a little over 500 (something or other when I think I have it calculated that I should have somewhere under 400) and it's wrecking my blood work. My counts are all low, but WBC & red is still above cutoff. However, platelets are 94, down again from last time…

But, she said in order for the port site to totally heal she had to get rid of that extra skin that was growing too fast. She also told me I'm going to have quite…

The uncertaintity of life
Our daughter called me a little while ago and told me a friend of our oldest granddaughter died at school this morning. She was 16 years old and our granddaughter had been friends with her since kindergarten. She went to the nurse's office and told her she wasn't feeling good. All of a sudden, she went into cardiac arrest…

Yesterday I supposed to start a new treatment, immune therapy with Temsirolimus, but the Dr. said they have not gotten approval from the insurance yet and offered me the trial with Lenvatinib(for tyroid) and Pembrolizumab(for melanoma). I agreed, but then at home when I read the info I got so scared.... On Monday I'll ask…

Questions to ask about pelvic wash and many otherse
I've been reading through many of the older posts and seen that people keep mentioning the pelvic wash. Does everyone have that? Pelvic hip pain and chemo #29
For the last 2weeks I have been having pain in my right hip and pelvis. I tried Tylonal and even broke down and took a hydrocodone. neither helped one bit. Has anyone tried Reiki for helping side effects?
I have a chance to buy a Reiki session at half price ($50 instead of $100). Has anyone ever tried it and if so did you think it helped with the neuropathy? That's what I struggle most with. I can't do it every week, but maybe once a treatment would be doable although at full price, it would be expensive. I just hate to…

Wound care today!
I had my third appointment at the Wound Care clinic today. My doctor was happy with the way the old port site is finally healing although I still have to go back again next week. She put her little poker into the wound looking for puss pockets (hurt like h*ll) and didn't find any. She talked to her nurse about changing the…
