The Lymph System, Nodes, etc. and their role in helping manage cancer
Here is a link which does a decent job explaining the lymph system and how it works. It is presented mostly for those with issues with lymphedema but the how's and why's are useful in general. The info on direction of flow I found particularly helpful. I had posted this in the thread with Claudia's post on how cancer…

Pap tests after surgery
Help me understand this. For the 1-2 years my gyn-onc has not done any pap tests. I has TAH 3 years ago and got paps for about a year after. When he stopped doing them I inquired. He said it's not necessary "because there's nothing to test". I discussed this with my PCP recently and she agreed. My understanding is that…

UPSC, Avastin insurance coverage/denial
My mother lost her first-round appeal w/Independence Blue Cross today. They will only give Avastin as a single-agent, and the doc wants to give it with Taxol. The initial denial was a one-page "not medically necessary." We made our case for medical necessity in the appeal. The appeal was denied and the new denial is…

Check it out: http://www.dancingwithned.com/ Has anyone ever heard them or under the care of one of them? Can't wait for the documentary. I wonder when/where/how it will be aired. It might be on their official website where one of them is talking about how breast cancer has the ribbon, but we have the band! Enjoy. Suzanne

I was listening to public radio (they were talking with a Canadian Doctor) and they are using some cancer patients in a trial run to see if the small pox virus (we got as children)will kill cancer cells. Well its a good thing I found him. Pathology then found the cancer. One month later had my right ovary removed. Had my left out many moons ago. No…

Bad CT results today; Megace recommended next (plus complementaries). Uncertain and scared.
By way of background: Dx in Feb 2011 with Stage IIIC2 Endometrial Adenocarcinoma; spread was to pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes, with some evidence in cervix, too. ER and PR both +3. My CT scan in March, just before starting chemo, showed some enlarged lymph nodes and one small (5mm) lung nodule. At that time, my…

Finished day one of chemo...Sort of
Had my first chemo treatment today…finally. I’m getting Ifosfamide three days in a row and Taxol on the first day only. Today was suppose to be my Taxol day but within three minutes of starting the IV, my lips went numb, my chest felt tight and I had half the hospital staff in my room. In the end, stopping the pump and…
