Has anyone experienced swelling in legs and feet?
Maybe it's because I stopped chemo, I don't know, but my legs and ankles & feet get swollen. Dr. doesn't seem to want to put me on water pill, said I'd get too dehyrated, so I do wear compression stockings which don't help all that much. Any one else experienced this? Any suggestions? Thanks. I couldn't take chemo anymore…

Good news?
Just got off the phone a bit ago with the NP I saw two weeks ago for my 6-month checkup. She's the one who ordered the pet scan and for whatever reason did not phone me. I have already posted all this. She asked if I received my onc's email and I asked rather coldly, which one? She said she had forwarded the results and…

Dr. Keith I. Block, Life Over Cancer. Has anyone read this.
Hi ladies. I had never heard of the Block Center until last night. Our local library has his book Life Over Cancer. I checked it out this afternoon. It looks very helpful and interesting. Has anyone read it, or even by chance been to the Block Center? Carla

Have you heard of Anastrozole?
It is also known as Arimidex, an aromatase inhibitor. Hi, ladies. I went to see my med/ono this morning. My latest CA125 has jumped to 65 (it was only 8 in March). The Dr suggested me the following options: (1) Wait and see, until I can feel some obvious symptoms. (2) Have a CT scan. (3) Participate in a clinical trial on…

Age 30 about to have surgery and many many questions needing some advice...
Hello, I've posted previously, but for those that aren't familiar, I shall post a very quick summary. I'm 30 years old, very very strong family history of both Breast and Ovarian Cancer (and Peritoneal we think..), hormonal fed type. Great grandmother, her sister, my grandmother, my mother and now my sister... all…

update on my surgery
So I woke up and was told they only took 1 ovary wit the cyst and the omentum, but left everything else because I have multiple tumors and a muconeous cancer covering much of my abdomen. There is a large tumor on my liver. They had the liver surgeon come in and look at it and he said it would be a huge ordeal to remove it…

Has anyone been to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America?
I just learned that my insurance will pay for me to seek treatment at the center in Tulsa, OK. Anyone been there or know someone who has? Thanks, Carla

Who has had a recurrence outside the abdominal area, while at the same time having a normal CA-125?
My CA-125 on May 21 was 14.1. However, needle biopsy of the node in my neck indicates suspicion of recurrence. My dr. (medical oncologist) is puzzled since my CA-125 remains normal. It has been normal for close to a year now. He also says it's unusual for the recurrence to be outside of the abdominal area. Just how…

My mother died from ovarian cancer and I'm scared!
My Gyno just called me with the results of my transvaginal ultrasound. Apparently I have an ovarian cyst that is less than half an inch. I'm 42 years old and never had any ovarian cycts. I had fibroids, which were removed in 1996 through a myomectomy. Since then every year I have been having ultrasounds to make sure they…

Got my results...
I emailed my onc and she emailed me back that the results had gone to the NP that ordered the test. I don't know why she didn't call me. I have a 4.6 x 2.6 tumor near my liver. She said she needed to discuss with surgeon but he probably won't want to go in so I most likely will have carbo/taxol like I did initially before…

I am still waiting for pet scan results.
I had the scan Wednesday evening at 6PM and the tech told me I would hear from my doctor on Thursday or Friday. Now it is Monday and I am getting nervous. I have been strong but am starting to crumble a little. I am too chicken to call myself. Has anyone had a similar experience? I want to think that no news is good news…

Dr. Joel Wallach. (naturopath) Has anyone ever heard of him?
Hello Ladies, My daughter's roommate contacted me yesterday saying they were meeting with Dr. Joel Wallach yesterday and today. She arranged a three way call for me with him and his assistant this afternoon. I realize he was in a hurry, but I must say his personality on the phone did not impress me. He told me to avoid…

Bleeding gums anyone?
I may post this on a few boards to see what response I get as to this scary and troubling symptom... Over the past few days, some new and troubling symptoms have shown their scary face... One, not so new, but making its presence known more is the very large lymph node on my neck, immediately below my left ear (in that…

Surgery in the morning
So at 11am tomorrow I am going in for an open surgery. They will be doing a full hysterectomy and testing the cysts then they will determine if I need the heated chemo and I guess what you call the debulking. They never really explained it that much, I have learned most of what I know from here. Please be praying that a…

Has anyone ever had a panendoscopy done?
My doctor has ordered a panendoscopy for me probably in about two weeks. Has anyone had this? I wish I could stop being so scared. See my posts below. No matter how hard I try, I'm having a tough time getting a hold on things. I think that the unknown is troubling me as much as anything is. Thanks Ladies, You're all…

That I check up on you ladies and always pray for all of you. I lost my grandmom/mother to ovarian c 13 years ago. My best friend. My everything. I miss her daily. NED! Welcome back, Buddy.
I finished with my six rounds of Gemzar/Carbo, my follow-up PET/CT scan is clear, and my CA-125 is 7. Yay! Much rejoicing and sighs of relief. But. (There's always something, right?!). I will be on maintenance Gemzar/Carbo, which basically means it will be given every 5 weeks instead of every 3. The reasons, according to…

Has anyone had a recurrence tht did NOT begin in the abdominal area?
AS I posted the other day, it appears as though I have a recurrence (after 9 months of remission). However, abdominal area is clean on both CT and petscans. CA-125 a few weeks ago was 12.8. My doctor (medical oncologist) does not think the node in my neck is ovarian for these reasons. He said it would be so rare for it to…

Just join and say "Hello"
I was dx last year for two illnesses. One was ovarian cancer (1C) and the other was Dermatomyositis which caused me muscle damages and swallowing problems. After 2 surgeries and 5 round of chemo, I was in NED Jan this year. My muscles are improving too. However, my skin continues to be problematic: itchy, red and…

Hormones after hysterectomy
So what are you all doing regarding needing hormones after a hysterectomy, but going through chemo and just having cancer in general. How do hormones and the cancer work. CANNOT Lose This Weight
Ok, so I just joined a few minutes ago out of sheer desperation. I have survived Stage IIIc Ovarian Cancer having been in remission since September 18, 2011 after 6 rounds of chemo. I had a total hysterectomy, appendectomy, and omentum removed. After my surgery I was afraid to eat because I didn't want discomfort from the…

How do you cope with the outlook for Ovarian Cancer?
I hate to make anyone fearful, but the outlook for this cancer is not too promising. For those of you that are diagnosed with it, how do you cope? I am just freaked out, of course. I was looking forward to feeling a bit better after surgery, but now I feel like, so what's next to deteriorate and need to be removed?! I know…
