Just met with 3 year survivor with no reoccurance
I work in a wellness setting and just met with a woman who got dx with Ovarian 3C in 2007 and after tx, she has not had a reoccurance. Just had a recheck done last week and CA-125 is good. There is some good news out there---thought I would share. I did not ask about her tx (but wanted to) because it was not the focus of…

RETURN TO CHEMO
Well my Teal sisters, I am back in Chemo. CT/PT scan shows something very small, no surgery, best approach is chemo. I am getting Avastin, Gemzar and Carboplatin. Anyone else doing or have done this. My Ca125 went from 9 to 24.5 then 50, so Dr. jumped right on it. Here I thought it was going to be my last 3 month checkup…

Ovarian cancer and Endrometrosis
Is there a link between ovarian cancer and endrometrosis? (I have no idea how to spell that word LOL! Hopefully you ladies will know what I am talking about) I have read where several women with end. also developed ovarian cancer. My sister talked to a couple of nurses who said they had never heard of that. I know I read…

No more chemo?
My Mom has been chemo since June 22nd 2010. She had 7 rounds of carbo/taxol three weeks apart, 13 rounds weekly of a clinical trial and now she has had four treatments of doxil three weeks apart. Debulking surgery Sept 2010 was unsuccessful. The oncologist at the time said 12-18 months. Her last chemo mom was very upset.…

PET/CT shows progression:(
Well, I am way overdue for an update, I guess. I had a PET/CT a couple weeks ago, showing progression and a new tumor (or extension of another one, they are not sure). I have 6 tumors total, and 2 of them in very difficult places (vena cava and behind the pancreas). I am on topo, but the CA125 is creeping up. Currently at…

To make us smile, out of the mouth of babes...
Last night I had my almost 10 yr. old niece help me make a breakfast casserole for this morning. I told her that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. My 20 yr. old daughter came into the kitchen. My niece, Kaylee said, "I'm trying to win a man's heart Leah." Later on last night she was trying to talk my…

How long does it take to feel better post chemo?
I know everyone is different but thought you ladies could give me a little advice. I'm due for my 6th Carbo/Taxol treatment Aug 3 and I know it will take a while "to feel better" plus I have a TPN line that I want to try and ween myself off so that I can travel a little without the logistical nightmare of dragging TPN bags…

Incidental finding
I had an MRI of my hips due to pain when walking or sitting and they found an ovarian tumor incidentally. I think I am lucky because it was only 5 x 3 cm. I have surgery the second week in August, robotic surgery by a gyn-oncologist. He thinks the tumor is encapsulated and is very optomistic. Here is the thing. I have…

Iron is a cancer promotor?
I know the subject of iron supplements has come up on the discussion board before. I think it is worth having a discussion with the oncologist about iron supplementation--especially, once anemia has resolved. I found the following at this web site: http://www.howcurecancer.com/…

Nervous about 1st Chemo
I was diagnosed with Stage 1A high grade ovarian cancer on 6/16/11. I have my first chemo (taxol/carbo) next week 7/20/11. I'm starting to get nervous because even though my oncologist explained so much to me, it's very scary for me. For that reason, what tips, advice, encouragement can you ladies give me. I've 'lurked'…

Just got back from having my head buzzed.
I sat there and cried. Have cried since I've been home. It began coming out yesterday. (my first treatment was June 28.) I didn't want to deal with the mess. I know it's "just hair." But to me, this just adds "insult to injury." It feels like pouring salt into an open sound. Guess I'll get used to it, but still..... The…

2nd Round Chemo Complete / Remission/ Phase II Vaccine Trial ...
Sorry for this long post but it's been a looong time since I've posted at all. I've kept up pretty much with the joys, sorrows, frustrations and HOPE of the Teal Warriors via reading the board late at night. Lots of tears for loss, tears for daughters, sons and husbands who have lost wives and moms (my heart breaks for my…

Hi All, DX stage IV ovarian through pleural effusion. Have only had 3 rounds of carbo/taxol. Due for surgery in about a month, so I don't know grade or type. Last chemo kicked my butt. Hello, I am 28 years old, and my Mom was diagnosed in the last month with ovarian cancer that had metastasized to the colon and spleen. She was shocked and heartbroken, but she agreed to go for a major surgery at a very well known hospital. She had a debulking surgery done last week, removing 5 lbs of tumors. They had to…

? about hot flashes
What do you ladies take or do for hot flashes? Mine are worse during the night. I wake up with my legs sweating really bad. Does anyone else have their legs sweat? A chemo nurse told me a couple of weeks ago that she sweats all over. If I have one during the day, it's typically my face and neck. Of course, I'm in MS and…
