Need some advice and info
Hi Ladies, Quick question, may not be a quick answer. I'll ask this one thing and then hopefully I can put this damn obstruction topic on the back burner for a while and give it a rest. I've been out since yesterday as you know, and I had a lot of work to do here. One thing is that I have to give myself needles every 8…

Clinical trial GOG-0252
I just joined this group today and am so pleased to have others who are going through the same thing. I have stage 3 primary peritoneal carcinoma, being handled as ovarian. I am part of clinical trial GOG-0252 and was hoping to connect with other women in this trial to compare notes. I am actually feeling quite well -…

After first Doxil ca125 jumped
I know I read here in the past about Doxil and ca125. I guess I am looking for reassurance. Before starting Doxil my ca125 was 15. Normal I know but I had a positive biopsy on my colon. 3 wks after my first dose my ca125 jumped to 30. Now it was drawn at a different lab so I will take that into consideration but I'm not…

Hello everyone, I'm new to this board. I was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer in April 2009. I'm only 31 years old--was 30 when diagnosed. I would love to chat with someone my age who is going thru this. Blessings to all of you brave ladies! ~Natalie

More Chemo
It's been almost 10 1/2 years for me since first diagnosis. Was cancer free 7 1/2 years and then had recurrences in 2007, 2008, and again in 2009. Finished 6 rounds of gemzar and cysplatin. CT scan still showed some small lesions. Continued on with 2 treatments of Carboplatin and Gemzar. CT scan shows lesions are getting…

We take all these things for granted and don't realilze what a pleasure these things are til we…

Mom's 2nd Round of Chemo - Very Sick
My Mom started her 2nd round of chemo last Tuesday with a 6 hour chemo treatment with Carboplatin and Taxol. She tolerated the chemo fairly well during her first 3 treatments. This 4th treatment has made her very very sick for 3 days in a row. I know this is probably normal, but she had been doing so well. She is just…

CT's are all clear
Hi ladies, I am relieved to find out all my CT's are clear (lung, pelvic and bone). My CA125 is still at 132, so obviously, there are tumors lurking. My doc says that if they were to take a PET, they would show up, but he doesn't see any point in doing that unless I plan on doing surgery. I have mixed feelings, I really…

Today was not a good day...
Hi to all. Today was a day for the birds... I went to visit Mom at the hospital. When I got there, I saw all of the nurses scurrying around the nurse's station and they kept saying my Mom's room number-I knew something was wrong... I went into her room and she was hooked up to pure oxygen and pale as a ghost. She said that…

2nd time around
Hi Everyone, My name is Cat and I just found this web site. I was diagnosed with stage IIII OV cancer last April. I had the complete hysterectomy and most of the omentum removed. I went through 6 rounds of carbo and toxil chemo every 3 weeks and did well. My markers started out at 2300 and went down to 184 when I finished…

Thank You all!
As you may have guessed, I'm writing this from a hospital bed full of tubes, IVs and a leaky OncQ pump (whatever that is.) The surgery went as well as expected. Twosuprprises, a small spot on the bowel and a small spot on the bladder. Hence, I'm nPO and going home with a catheter. Probably won't be home until Monday or…

ORIGINAL CA-125 WAS 5200 - Dropped by 200 after first round of chemo
My Mom was recently diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer for the 2nd time in 29 years. Her CA-125 started at 5200. After her first round of weekly chemo, her CA-125 dropped by 200 to 5000. We've been told by the Dr. that is a significant drop (and we are so thankful for every point dropped). From all of your experiences, does…

Here for my mom
My mom found out she had ovarian cancer a couple of weeks ago. She had her first surgery today. They said that they were able to remove 95% of the cancer. They removed her uterus, ovaries, omentum, and part of her colon. There is come cancer still on her pelvic area and diaphram. The liver was fine, the lymph nodes were…

During hysterectomy, ovary accidentally sliced open for 2 inches
Does anyone know if that lowered my survival odds, and by how much? It seems likely that this would metastatize the cancer as well as spread it regionally by smearnig cancer cells on various internal organs as it was pulled out through my vagina.

Here's what they told me
Hi Ladies Well I'm in the hospital right now and just finished seeing the doctor who wanted me to be admitted. I had to rush to the computer to retell what was just said so I don't forget any details. Now I guess I should be so freaked out right now but I'll reserve that reaction until I hear from you guys. I have an…

recurrence
After a year cancer free, my cancer is back. I went from a CA125 of 18 to 101. My doctor ordered a CT scan which was completely normal, but the CA125 went up to 175. I start chemo again on Friday. I will get a regime of CarboP and Gemzar this time. He said that I will not lose my hair! Don't quite know how that is. The…

Obstructions
Hi, Lately since I have been on this site, it seems to be a huge number of ovarian cancer survivors who have developed intestinal/bowel obstructions. I am just beginning to see the depths of this ugly disease and how it affects more than just having a hysterectomy. It has been three years for me since my diagnosis and my…

Update on Mom's chemo
Mom started chemo last friday... She is on Taxol/Carboplatin for one full day every 3 weeks. She is still in the hospital so that actually gives me comfort that she has constant supervision when I cannot be there. The very next day(Saturday) she was complaining that her muscles felt like mush. I also noticed that her face…

obstruction-con't thread
Hi my Ladies Well after spending a weekend of absolute terror and a lot of tears. I don't know what's come over me but I just have this horrible feeling of doom, which I prey is just my over active imagination. No chemo today
They nixed my chemo today - the last of my six Carbo/Taxol treatments. My platelets were too low. Red cells were low, too, so they gave me another shot of Aranesp. Trying again on Feb 17th. Bummer. Carlene

Packing for Hospital
Ok. So this may be silly, but my surgery date (hyster/debulking) is Wednesday. Called the docs office, and if I can get there, they will be there. (Thinking of hiring a dog sled as we live in Baltimore). At any rate, are there any things that I should pack that I wouldn't normally think of? Already have the following:…

Doxil - mouthsores
10 days into my second dose of Doxil I have mouth sores, various rashes, a painful spot on the sole of my foot and crying episodes. In some aspects the carbo/taxol and cisplat/taxol seemed like a walk in the park. Anyone have any tips to help with mouth sores?

Read any good (cancer) books lately?
I recently read The Red Devil - To Hell With Cancer and Back - by Katherine Russell Rich. Although she had breast cancer, and her diagnosis was about 20 years ago, she has had numerous recurrances and still has a lot in common with all cancer patients. The name of the book, Red Devil, comes from one of her chemo drugs.…

debulking
Hi Ladies I keep seeing this word "debulking" and I"ve been meaning to ask. What the heck is this anyway. Should this be something that I should have. Sounds like they go in and scrape around to get all the tumors out of the way. Linda
