can a low grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma recur as high grade?
Hi, I was treated (maxiollectory only) for a low grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma on the hard palate, I had clear margins but reading the pathalogy report it seems that the bone was eroded (i am assuming this is the bone of the hard palate), I have been clear for a long time now and was woundering, 1) can a low grade…

Feeling selfish and guilty
I was so excited when I first found this forum. Now I come here feeling selfish, guilty, and scared to continue reading. I have always been a person who likes to research and be prepared for all possibilities. Coming here and asking questions made me feel better, like I was preparing in some way for what was to come.…

Then after a series of events, mainly me getting the flu and having to postpone all the appts I had made. I had to see yet another new…

Great and Not So Great News
Saw the ENT today for PET results. The great news...the original tumor is gone and affected lymph nodes all look good. The not so great news is that he has a new growth "neoplasm" on or in his thyroid that was not there before. So he has an ultrasound scheduled in the morning and a needle biopsy scheduled Wednesday…

Nerve continuity test
after all the treatments etc, I have "winging of the scapula" on my right side. The oncologist said it was probably due the some damage to the Long Thorasic Nerve due to the cancer itself, or the radiation treatments to the right side of the neck. I only had a tonsillectomy ( no neck dissection) so it's not due to surgery.…

Swallowing
Today I got a hospital letter to say they were going to take me into hospital to examine my blocked throat. They could see from the swallow video test that the liquid wasn,t entering the food tube. They think it's radiation damage and will try to open my throat. I feel more nervous about this than all the other treatment…

Frustrated!
The 24th of this month will make 2 months since I finished the treatments. Honestly, this "recovery" period is worse than anything I endured during the treatment. It seems like I can't eat anything (never had a PEG) except grits with fried eggs mixed in. Anything sweet taste like motor oil (especially Boost/Ensure drinks)…

Hospice update
Jim and I called Hopice in. They brought in the oxygen and took over sending the meds via Fedex. The pain meds being delivered is a blessing in itself. That was the most stressful part and I am already less stressed. We got the oxygen last evening and it was a blessing this morning when Jim had uncontolable coughing and…

Hyperbaric treatment and dental extractions looming on the horizon
Hello everyone, long time no see! I have a question for you all regarding hyperbaric treatments relating to dental extractions - given the time involved, loss of hours at work, cost, potential for short-term and long-term visual adverse effects, especially in my own case... (It will "ripen" my radiation-induced cataracts,…

Just when i thought it was safe to walk on the ice...
Just got back from the MedOnc and the results of my 1 yr post treatment CT was less than stellar. It seems that a ground glass nodule, that has been present in all of my scans, has increased in size by a millimeter since the last scan three months ago. Now he could not have been more reassuring that it is probably due to…

Fruit sensitivity
Back in 2007, I started having issues with orange juice and other citrus. I didn't think anything of it because I had just changed allergy meds. Later that year, I was diagnosed with tonsil cancer. After surgery and treatment, I could have citrus again. I read online somewhere (although I can't find it now) that citrus…
