Who has swallowing issues and what do you eat?
Was on a g-tube for 10 months having radiation and chemo at beginning of year and then recovering from the ordeal. My last surgery on my tongue left me with maybe half of it but a good deal of muscle and tissue was taken underneath and floor of mouth so I have a exposed area along my right side of gum line and teeth. My…

Hi All- Just a quick question. I have not been online in a while, and am praying for a 5 yr clean scan in 2014. Meanwhile, I am clenching my teeth, causing my TMJ to act up. I have taken different medications to no avail. I think it is stress, as I have a lot going on, but was wondering if anyone else has experinced this.…

Stitches keep PEG in place instead of rubber seal - common?
I have a feeding tube. However, instead of a rubber button holding the tube in place on the outside of the stomach, I have stitches that hold the tube to the skin. The problem I have with this recently is that when the stomach wants food, it growls and spasms. The tube get pulls inward then pushes outward like a tug of…

Temperature issue?
Hi Guys, I don't now if I am over-reacting or not (probably), but I thought I would throw it out there. Two nights ago I ran a low fever of 99.1 for about three hours until I took some Tylonal and it went away. Tonight I was feeling a little icky again and checked my temp and it was at 99.1 again. However, by the time I…

Cancer Hurts
I have come to the conclusion that even after you beat cancer it comes back and laughs in your face. Last Thursday a Business Agent I work with, his wife died from it, and now today the Secretary/Treasurer of our local was told he has a brain tumor. They are shipping him to Philly tomorrow. Not diagnosed as cancer and…

Well, you all know how dang stressful that is and the…

a cold!
Or at least so I think, we travelled to Florida last week and my wife brought home a cold, which she promptly gave to me. This is my first illness since treatments (last rad was July of 2012) and I don't recall any of the doctors telling me anything about getting a cold or flu and if there is a challenge getting rid of the…

New (and best ever) C-word!
We had an appointment with my rad-onc last week--my annual visit with him. He went through a summary of my current status (ORN, trismus) and upcoming events (neck resecting in April) and then finished by saying that he considers my cancer to be cured! He is the first doctor to say that word to me, and it really hit home…
