Met With Doc For PET Details Today :o)
The report says "excellent response to treatment" and "no evidence"! My doctor was so excited, I could tell he could barely wait for me to finish reading the report. In celebration of being a 2 time survivor, I got myself some new tattoos. I tried to make it my profile pic so hopefully it really updated even though I don't…

I Don't Mean to Brag, But - - -
Of COURSE I mean to brag. I want those of you in and freshly out of treatment to know what you can look forward to. Yesterday, on the way to work, I ate the breakfast I fixed in the car (I ate the breakfast in the car, didn't fix it in the car). It consisted of a SANDWICH. Not just a sandwich, a BAGEL sandwich. Not just a…

Feeding tube?
My feeding tube was placed 8 days ago, and I am still getting some sharp pain around it, mostly on the left side. The night they placed it I had dry heaves and felt like I pulled a stitch. Did anyone else experience this or am I being a baby? I kind of think it is at least mildly infected, so went to have it checked today,…

Advice
I finished treatment (Surgery, Rad, Chemo)for stageIV oropharyngeal base of tongue with three nodes in the neck. Although the preliminary post-treatment inspection by the surgeon left him optimistic, I still await my first PET scan post-treatment in about a month. How have any of you handled the anxiety/ terror or awaiting…

pictionary in ICU
Ok maybe its lack of sleep talking but I got a little tickled. My husband woke up with Versa and 200mg Fentanyl and wanted to tell me and the nurse that his teeth were cutting into his upper lip. He began drawing doodles and getting frustrated as we played dictionary trying to figure out what he was trying to say. Finally…

Radiation Induced LARYNGITIS -
Hi All - Had my ENT visit today and all looks good (scope and finger exam). He certainly heard my voice and agreed it sounded pretty bad, I have been fighting this very weak and hoarse voice for about 2 weeks + now. During the scope he said to the nurse (who was taking notes) "extremely dry vocals". Nothing on them, they…

PEG TUBE IS BEING PULLED TOMORROW!!
I am so thrilled that the peg tube will be gone after tomorrow but have to admit I am a little anxious about what to expect. Don't know how much pain to expect during and after. They tell me I must have a high pain tolerance but I have never thought that. I kind of liked to be knocked out for all procedures,ha ha.

My first ENT threw a monkey wrench in all my plans last night.
Now I'm really confused. My ENT that first diagnosed my SQ called last night just to check on how I'm doing. I told him about my trip to MD Anderson and their recommendation for Induction/Chemo/Rad and no surgery. He listened carefully and made some comments about that's how Anderson has been treating this condition for 10…

Missed you guys
Haven't been on the board for awhile and have thought about you guys often and missed the company of fellow travelers on a strange hike. I thought I would pop in and say hi once in awhile and let you all know how well I was doing. Had hoped I wouldn't be coming back because I needed the support but that's why I'm coming…

Smoothies that won't set my mouth sours on fire
Hey all, thought I would catch you all up and pick your brains at the same time, especially Phrannie, because she has or is still dealing with the same problems.. Let me backup a bit. My original treatment plan was 3cycles of the nasty chemo cocktail, by infusion 2 drugs by port, and the 3rd drug via "the pump" 35 days of…

A few extra prayers needed
I know I have not posted for awhile about my dad. He has been doing pretty good. I think the last round of chemo took more of a toll on him. There seems to be some mental decline at times and it did a number on his physical strengh. But he still drives everywhere with someone with him. Goes to the grocery store with us and…

Pet Scan Results
Loved one had his first Pet Scan done to see what direction we need to go for treatment. According to the Surgeon base of tongue & neck appeared to be only "hot" spots, but she said she is not a Radiologist and he would confirm. After Radiolgist reviewed, saw a hot spot in stomach. Said it could be gastritis and needs to…
