Is Oxaliplatin the most important drug in Folfox Treatment?
My husband Tim is having a rough time with neuropathy in his hands, feet, mouth, tongue. He said he just can't take it anymore. The Onc. has cut back and he takes Gabapentin 300 mg 3 times a day but it is still bothering him. Folfox w/avastin is working and I am afraid if he stops the Oxal. meds the treatment will quit…

PET Scan, what to expect
I've always been wimpy abut things like needles and pain. Having cancer and then the PE didn't make me tougher, it made me wimpier, if anything. So I have the PET scan coming up on Thursday morning and I'm wondering what's involved. They said they inject sugar and see where the cancer grabs it and then it lights up if…

Not exactly the results we'd hoped for
Met with both the medical oncologist and radiation oncologist today and got the results of the CT scan I had on Friday. Everything that showed up on the previous scans is stable except for the liver mass in the right lobe. It went from 1.5 cm to 1 cm after 8 rounds of FOLFOX plus Avastin, but after being only on the 5-FU…

A little background: I have a very low, but…

Not NED
Sorry I have been away for awhile. On 1/19/16 I had an MRI and on the 20th my oncologist told me the cancer is now in my liver. He said it is 4.8 cm x 4.1 cm in size. When he told me I felt like I had been hit in the face with a brick. I am still Dazed and Confused. They have not decited to do 3 months chemo before and 3…

Now Glenn Frey, I'm getting depressed
I guess being a boomer means more of this, more often. He was the healthy one, I thought. He used to do like Bally's fitness commercials. They say he had Rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia at 67. Sounds like a miserable finish to an exceptional life. I always enjoyed the…

"Top 9 behaviors and attitudes"...just a little insightful thing
hey everyone, a while back I saw this little list in a magazine. It is supposed to be a recovery type thing, and I just found it helpful and so I am sharing it here. I believe that even if positive thinking and meditation stuff doesn't take something away physically, I still believe in, and find hope and strength in…

Anyone diagnosed with Lynch Syndrome?
My 22 year old daughter was diagnosed with Stage 2 Colon Cancer and had a grapefruit sized mass removed along with the ascending colon back in September. THe surgeon felt that she had most likely removed it all. It was not through the lining of her colon and 40 lymphnodes that were tested were clear of cancer, but the size…

Let's Do The Time Warp Again
When I checked the board it seemed overrun with threads. I actually clicked back to Discussion Boards and back in case I somehow wound up in the wrong place. Some of them seem to be gone now, but it seems a couple of trolls and spammers may be out and about.

Clear leakage out of rump
Even tho my husband has a colostomy he is getting clear leakage that drains out of his butt. After 9 treatments, scan shows that there is no tumor left on rectum/colon area (has not had a colonostomy yet tho). He has no control over it comming out, has anyone else had this problem and what would it be from?

A Year Ago Today
I picked up the report for a scan that my doctor called about (rather concerned saying it was urgent I call) the night before. When the conversation the night before started with "You are young in in otherwise good health," you figure it ain't going to be a fun conversation. He hedged saying he was not an expert on the…

Illeostomy reversal success rate
I'm on the list to have it reversed but it wiill be months before it would be done, possibly not until the fall. At first I thought I didn't want to do it because I've had IBS my whole life and it's been nice not to have to deal with the pain from that as well as having to live my life around it. My surgeon says that I'm a…

Low dose aspirin
So I had a follow up yesterday. CEA and blood tests. Asked the doc about post chemo diet and exercise. Two take aways. Exercise 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week, enough to get your heart rate up. Second, take low dose aspirin everyday. Apparently recent studies on both items appear to improve recurrence risk and progression…

Its that time again
I see a pattern, and I don't know how to break it. My CT Scan and bloods are on the 27th. I feel myself slipping from the happy, carefree, positive person I am as I approach the scans and blood work. It feels like their is cotton wool in my head and I can't get it out. I want to smile and be happy, I do smile and I am…
