It starts up on Friday morning, when we go to the market in town. This is a working market...stalls for everything from fruits and vegies, cheese and meats, fish, baked goods to…

I had made a brief mention of my increasing cancer markers in another topic .." RFA to tumour scars?.." The tumor markers had an increasing trend which had me worried. Got my Ct-pet scans done as I was concerned and worried. Last scan was in November 2012. Then I was in maintenance chemo of erbitux for 12 cycles which…

Started 7th tx of fulfox. Oncologist is very happy with how I am doing. Blood and liver functions are wonderful. He looked at Jim and said it's really a miracle. Jim and I just said...purple potion. Jim's lumps (stage 4 melanoma) have disappeared near his clavicle, one under his arm seems to be gone, and the largest is now…

The final stretch of first chemo treatment......
Jason is almost finished with his first chemo treatment & all is well.....VERY well as a matter of fact. I'm in tears as I'm typing this, I am so relieved. He has had no nausea, no vomiting, NO sensitivity to cold things (he is sipping on iced tea now) & has been eating more than he has in a few weeks. We are still in the…

Cancer sucks and I need to vent
First of all I am sorry about the loss of Buzz. I didn't know him that well like many of you but it was heartbreaking for me to see the picture of his family and imagining all of the heartache they are going through. I understand as a survivor of great loss. My first wife died 14 years ago and my mother died less than 2…

My onc at Northwestern is on board
Talked to her yesterday after getting my CT scans (no results yet) and she went from hesitant to excited and fully on board with me going to Hallwang. She seemed genuinely excited about what they are doing over there, and felt that the Removab to reduce tumor load would be beneficial regardless of whether the DC vaccine…

CEA - What's the Efficacy for Monitoring Colon Cancer
Hey ya'll, My oncologist seems to put great stock in monitoring my CEA. The "normal range" for my particular lab is 0.0 to 6.1 ng/mL. My first CEA measurement was on June 18, 2012, resulting in a value of 3.4. Beginning on July 25, 2012 my CEA was measured every two weeks throughout my first 12-round cycle of chemotherapy.…

Good Bye my Dear, Dear Friend Clift "Buzzard"
My heart is breaking at the loss of another dear friend. I changed my avatar once, and Buzzard wrote and asked me to change it back to me sitting on the beach at the ocean here in Santa Cruz, that's how he always thought of me, sitting, staring into the vast horizon. So I changed it back and it's been that same avatar for…

2nd day of 1st treatment
Yesterday was my first treatment. I came home with my stylish fanny pack. I get unhooked tomorrow. So far I haven't had any nausea or food aversions. That could be because they gave me an anti nausea med before and a steroid to help with that. I haven't had fatigue yet. I'm trying not to get cocky as I am sure I will not…

Who knows about HIPEC treatments?
Hey all, it's me....again. I have a question. Has anyone here had the HIPEC procedure done & if so, I would love to hear your input. I don't know if Jason is or isn't a candidate, I know he probably isn't right now, but maybe if the chemo shrinks the tumor enough for it to be removed or partly removed? I know this has been…

Dad has stage 4
Hi, I am new to this whole blog deal but I am in search of help or advice of some sort. My father, 53 years old, was diagnosed with Colon cancer last summer in July. He had the surgery done to remove it a week before my birthday. The surgeon reported that he had gotten rid of all the cancer and assured me everything would…
