Thorsten was released from hospital today. So far everything is going well. The wound is healing. The bloodcounts have to get better but should do soon. The "WC-sessions" are still a bit increased but are slowly returning to normal counts. So far we are very contend. Our expectations were much worse so I'm surprised but…

Good PET results! (Gemzar/GOLF)
Just got the results of my PET scan. After 4 cycles of GOLF (Gemzar + FOLFOX) plus Avastin. I've had a difficult time on this regime -- low blood counts, transfusions, bad mouth ulcers. I've ended up on a 3 week cycle instead of 2 week, by 'accident'. My onc has reduced my dosage. Hopefully getting the side effects under…

Just A Little Help(Not Cancer Related)
Hi All, Hubby is having eye surgery Thursday as the doctor has been unable to stop the bleeding in his eye. He is having nose bleeds now, possibly related? The plan is to clean out the blood and laser some of the veins, I believe. Had to make an emergency visit to the cardiologist to get clearance for the surgery. EKG not…

Naproxen .... interesting.
ORLANDO, FL (April 6, 2011) – Numerous studies show that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce the risk of colon cancer. However, animal studies testing the NSAID naproxen or its derivative, NO-naproxen, have focused primarily on chemically-induced tumor formation. Now, researchers at Fox Chase Cancer…

Did anyone's cancer spread quickly. I need to find just one living person who had this experience
Couldn't sleep so I'm up researching. Tethering seems to have nothing to do with curability. You can still be cured if you can get tethering cancer just like untethered cancer. But spreading quickly, no one seems to live beyond 18 months. At least not those online. And I know that the only ones who generally post are those…

Gastrectomy + Whipple after colectomy
I know it's a long shot...but has anyone out there had to have a gastrectomy and a Whipple following a colectomy? My husband already deals with the short gut issues from the colectomy (with J-pouch and ileoanal reanastamosis). We worry about the long term consequences of removing so much from the gut. He is 38 with FAP.…

I know to get papers in order and all of that but how do I stop hearing the doctors death sentence every morning when I wake up. I don't want to waste my time worrying and being scared but I don't…

Starting chemo tomorrow. Have all the supplies suggested. The Beautiful Things
One thing that cancer has given me is a greater appreciation for the simple but beautiful things in life. In the evenings I enjoy going outside and reading while enjoying the night air. The past two nights, however, I've been distracted from reading by sights that are truly breathtaking and really made me realize what it…
