Insult added to injury
Hi, This might very well be my last post. Since my recurrence I've moved back in with my dad and stepmom (I'm 39 and have no family of my own). They were lukewarm from the start. Yesterday I got into a big argument with my dad. I still have around twelve thousand in total assests left from the sale of my house. All of it…

Hemorrhoids and rash
I know it's been posted before but I can't seem to find it. Hemorrhoids and a rash! The rash is like a diaper rash and itchy. I've use hemorrhoid creams, OTC and script, vaseline, Balmex, Burt's Baby Bee diaper ointment, which kind of has a medicinal smell, not too fond of that, and Butt Paste. It's almost 4 months since…

New here and newly diagnosed.
Hello, my name is Deena and I am very happy I found this group. I am a cancer survivor, at least so far (newly diagnosed). We have 4 biological children, adopted one from foster care in 2008 and April of this year added two beautiful Russian girls to our family. While in Russia, I started having some blood in my stool and…

All clear for our daughter!
Dear Friends, I cannot thank you enough for your thoughts and prayers. Katie has been through a number of procedures in her life and this was by far the smoothest. The nurses had been told she had autism and everyone was prepared that she might have a hard time. The nurse said, "Wow, she is really doing great." I said,…

How do you do it?
Why is this so difficult? I started out on this forum reading everything, posting and asking questions and then I kinda froze up. A few people I related to passed away and I took it harder than I thought or harder than I wanted too and now I’m spent. I feel guilty because so many on here are going through so much,…

My dad is still NED
Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but I do read your posts often. My dad was first diagnosed with colon cancer almost 5 years ago. He was stage IV with 2-3 liver mets. My dad had surgery for the initial tumor in the colon and then did 6 months of chemo. After the six months of chemo, the liver mets disappeared…

Scan results
Talked to the oncologists nurse today. I have an appointment at 8:45 in the morning. All the nurse said is that the scan is suspicious and the doctor wants to talk. I'm guessing this is not a good thing since doctors do not like to give out bad news over the phone. Eric

Scan update - no results yet
I just got my MRI today and it went went better than expected as far as the procedure went . The tech was very friendly and kept me comfortable. I usually start to get panicked at some point but did not experience that this time. It was a very relaxed environment and I felt very peaceful. I was feeling more clear headed…

Devasted posted bad news about the bone scan. My question for the board is how do they detect bone mets. Is it only possible to detect this via a bone scan? My pet and ct's have came back clear but how do I know if its gotten to my bones?

Colon Cancer Stage 4
Hello My dad has been diagnosed with Colon cancer, he had 12 inches removed and has a colostomy bag. He had 33 treatments of radiation and chemo in the pill form. Now he has to have a port inserted. He went to this doctors visit without me and I am afraid he is not telling me the whole story. Anyway, I asked him if the…

erbitux side effects
I'm going to begin having erbitux next week. I'm concerned about the acne that I'm told can be quite severe. I'd like to know if anyone can recommend some treatments that might help with that. I was diagnosed in 2008 with stage 4 colorectal cancer. Since then I have had 4 surgeries and 15 months of chemo. The most recent…

Asking for thoughts and prayers
Hi Friends, Please say a prayer or send out a good thought for our family the next two days. **** is on the box and will unhook tomorrow. I am hoping he does not break out in a rash again and that his nausea is under control. Our youngest daughter, who has autism and epilepsy, is being "cleaned out" today for an endoscopy…

Anyone hear how Chip's surgery went?
I've been busy praying for him as I'm sure most of us have. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard an update on him.

Mortality as I see it...........
******I ask myself this question this morning "Why would I want to live on this earth forever"... ****** I think I ask myself this to ready myself for the inevitable someday, in about 41 years, so I can live up to my promise made. Why should I think about mortality issues anymore now than I should have 10 years ago or 10…

Update on cancer- good news
I saw my surgeon today after being told by gastro doc on Thursday that I have cancer again after 4 1/2 years. Surgeon said the mass was little and in a good spot for laparospy surgery. He said considering the size and the likelihood it is a stage 1 there was no need for pre-surgery chemo nor did he see any reason for post…
