Avastin / Folox question
From your experience, do the treatments gradually get worse from the build up of chemo or typically stay about the same. My hubby goes for #2 on Tuesday and is doing great after first treatment. Thanks you all so much, you have great advice and it makes our journey a little easier. Always look forward to reading the posts…

I feel good right now, but the week has been a rollercoaster.…

Port Problem/Switch to Xeloda
My mother has stage III colon cancer (surgically removed) and began 6 month adjuvant therapy in July - FOLFOX For whatever reason the oncology team did not realize that at treatment #6 they needed to use a needle 1 1/2 to 2 inches long to access the port. She did not complete all of the therapy and gave her a script to…

Thanks from Katie in Pensacola
You guys are great, I really appreciate hearing from people that really live with the colostomy. Friends and family tell you "lots of people do it", my response has been, "yeah, but not you". Now that I've heard from so many, my fears are greatly reduced, I will follow the overwhelming advice to speak to the ostomy nurse…

Hello fellow Semi-Colons, I thought I would share what a joyous summer I had. A bit of background first: was diagnosed in 2007 with colon cancer stage 3, had surgery and chemo. This was the second battle with cancer, the first being with Hodgkins 20 years ago. Currently NED. I just wanted to stress to others going through…

Avastin side effects - 2+ protein in urine, severe flank pain
To all avastin users. I went in for my 8th cycle of Folfiri and Avastin and almost didn't get the avastin. The cut off point is 2+ for protein in your urine which I had. We called my onc and he said to give it to me anyway as my urine protein had been negative up until now. Last night I developed severe flank pain on both…

New Diagnosis
My husband started having pain in his abdomen the end of July and was diagnosed with almost total obstruction of the right hepatic flexure area of his colon with a "napkin ring" tumor on 9/9. My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer with liver metastasis in June 2009. She had a colon resection and today she had a surgery on her liver to remove the tumors. Queen Mother
Hello fellow semicolons ... I don't know whether this story has already been in the American press but, if not, I thought it might give hope ... A new authorised biography of the Queen Mother has revealed that she survived for 35 years after surgery to remove a tumor on her colon. I am pasting the story from the BBC…

Not cancer related, this is a social problem
I just read an article concerning an uproar in Florida over an 83-0 HS football score. All the parents and school administrators are in a tizzy over the beating. This is discouraging. Why should anyone or team diminish their performance to a lower level. I shutter to think what is going on in people's minds when they…

Thanks for all the great feedback and this wonderful site
Thank you to everyone that participates here. I've been able to get a better feel for the answers to a lot of my questions having multiple answers, instead of just those in one doctor's office. Tomorrow morning I have a PET scan. I had been worried that everyone kept blowing off the small spot (1/4") on my liver that was…
