San Diego Cancer Center
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with the San Diego Cancer Center? (2 locations in Vista and Encinitas in north San Diego county) How about Dr. Derek Helton? I'm not sure yet where he practiced before joining this cancer center. I keep having twists in my bid to try to change oncologists. I had the experience…

Here I Go.....
....Starting to get scared again...I just read the papers that my doctor had to fill out for my hubby's family medical leave act, and there were some things said on the paper like "metastatic disease to liver" and "Adenocarcinoma of the colon" that got me scared, and here I went googling crap... There were articles on…

wondering...
All of you are such wonderful people. The compassion, humor, openess devotion, truthfulness and love you all share with each other is unique. My question is...were you always like this, or did you achieve these higher levels of human emotional development after you had diagnosis?

Medical Marijuana
I posted an answer yesterday replying to “If drinking was okay on chemo” and it seemed to open up a great discussion. My name is Brooks and on April 14th 2009 I was told that I have cancer (Rectal). My life as I once knew if was changed in an instant. A week later my 68 year old father went out and somehow somewhere got me…

7 treatment, after surgery
I had my 7th treatment yesterday and took my nausea pills right after chemo. I automatically noticed the cold sensitibity while in the fridge, and my throat tightens up when I drink anything above room temperture. My legs started the achyness and uncomfortness right before bed time so I said heck with it, took a sleeping…

A Great Colonoscopy....Believe That?
Just wanted to share a good colonoscopy experience with you.... unbelievable that I am writing this but my fourth one was the easiest ever. The few changes that I think were responsible: I could eat breakfast the day before the test for the first time so I had cereal with a little milk and a blueberry muffin.....then for…

(we think the origin was in the stomach) Just made me sick to hear that. 29 years old and 3 small kids. Anyway, I know that a few of you have…

Alcohol and Chemo ?
I'm interested in your opinions on drinking any alcohol while on chemo. A few days before treatment, while I'm feeling almost human, I will have a beer or a glass of wine. It doesn't seem to have any adverse reaction. Most importantly, it makes me feel like I have some control over what I can and cannot do. Any opinions…

When to get scoped for early detection with family history?
My mom was diagnosed last Thanksgiving with Stage 3 (by surgeon) or Stage 2 (by oncologist) colon cancer. A resection and chemo followed. She was only 59 at diagnosis. Only 3 treatments left for her---hoorah!!! The fight has been challenging- but I do believe she is winning the fight! Everyone tells us that me and my…

1 year later
Well, it's been 1 year since my diagnoses. Had my 1 year follow up colonoscopy and I have my CT's in a few weeks. 1 tiny little polyp and some biopsy but surgeon says don'thave to have another one for 3 years. I'm not comfortable with that. If after surgery to remove the tumor and 6 months of chemo a tiny polyp can start,…

Future liver resection

Now we are tackling the liver mtx's. Chemo for 3-6 months, MRI scan and then a right lobe liver resection. Currently all mtx's have been on…

Let's Talk Poop
Hey you awesome Semi-Colons! I posted this info on the Constipation thread, and I thought this might be of interest to a wider variety of semi-colons. So I pasted it here as well. I mean really, how many of us have three bowel movements/day? But that's what's healthy. I didn't know that before I had colon cancer. And I…
