I met with my surgeon and oncologist today. We usually all meet together when we determine courses of action. My thyroid surgery was rescheduled…

Has anyone had radiation to the lungs?
I am scheduled to have stereotactic radiation to the post-surgical margin of a 1.7 cm met that they removed in my right upper lobe. My surgeon did not get a wide enough margin, so radiation is being recommended to "prevent local recurrence". My radiation oncologist has told me that there are little to no side effects with…

A very awkward subject
I am so upset, not sure how to handle this. My husband was recently diagnosed with crc with "multiple" liver mets. After tests and the like, he was told that he only has about 2 years to live, and the only thing that can be done is to have chemo every other week until he dies. I of course insisted on a 2nd opinion and got…

Here's a awkward topic
Has anyone had the experience, especially the ones who have been fighting cancer for a long period of time compared to those who have been dealing with this for less than a year, where the cancer has affected one's sex life? Either the frequency of it, or the desire to have it, or the ability to "perform"? More so lately…

ACS
As far as I can tell, this website is the only benefit I've gotten from the ACS. I say that because I was approached today at lowes by someone raising money for the ACS. I told them I didn't want to donate to the ACS because I didn't think they did enough to help cancer patients. She assured me the ACS provided all kinds…

Think of me tonight
I hope y'all will be thinking of me tonight. My Relay for Life team is having a talent show tonight. It was a huge fundraiser for us last year, so I hope it does well again this year. Quick thought
After each of my surgeries the drs have given me insulin to keep my blood sugar low to improve healing. I really don't remember my by glucose level being high but they wanted to keep it way down. Now I know cancer uses glucose in very high concentrations. I imagine lowering your glucose level makes it harder for cancer to…

Heads Up! national Cancer Survivors Day is coming!
It's just May 1, but I thought I'd alert you all a bit early to National Cancer Survivors Day, June 7. A friend of mine in radio who keeps track of these things sent it to me today. Not sure how I'll celebrate it, maybe just a prayer to ask that a cure be found and that all of us who have or have had the big C, will be…

Would you be scared?
Hi all! I was wondering, I just saw my onc on Monday, who said the big question was if I should be kept on Avastin.
