Benefits of RadX lotion for radiation
This is my first time on this site or any other site like it - I hesitate to offer advice but this has helped me so much. I have 3 treatments to go out of 33 as of today. I started using RadX radiation lotion after my 20th treatment and saw an immediate improvement. It has lidocaine so it instantly soothes! My skin has…

Aloha
Kevin and I are leaving tomorrow a.m. for beautiful Kauai. I'm sure you all understand how much we need this trip right now. With me being rediagnosed with bone mets a couple of months ago and now on a new treatment, the stress level has been a 10 on many days. The ocean is my absolute favorite place, and the ocean on…

Hi everyone. I'm a two year survivor and I started a blog filled with hints, advice and tips I learned through my experiences with mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. I went bald, grew hair, got sick, got better, lost a breast, gained and lost weight. Had side effects, had high moments and low moments. Raised kids,…

hair growth
Yay!! I'm so glad to finally be at the stage of writing about hair growth. It seems, as you all know, that we wait forever for our hair to start growing back. Well that's what I've done. Could not wait for the 4-6 weeks after chemo for the growth to begin. I guess that was a healthy way to view it, one step at a time. But,…

Am I crazy to feel this way?
I cried off and on Thursday when the county scraped up the chipseal they had put down 4 or 5 years ago and left us once again with a gravel road to drive on. I think, in my mind, this personifies a cancer that I thought was gone and has now returned. Never thought I would compare myself to a road, but the road didn't…

Which Surgical Choice will have Least Impact on my Exercises
Hi, I am 41 years old with a healthy lifestyle and body, except that I was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 days ago. I have infiltrative ductal carcinoma and a 1.2 cm tumor in my left breast. I do tai chi and yoga regularly and frequently bicycle to work and other destinations around town, so therefore I'm fairly active…

Surreal Experience Getting a Blood Draw in the Chemo Room
I needed blood drawn and decided to get it done at the little satellite clinic rather than drive 20 miles to the regular clinic. Since I was a foot draw (which she didn't read the instructions on the label and I had to remind her), she took me back to the clinic's chemo room because it had a recliner to put my feet up. I…

Thank you all for the Birthday Wishes!! - Silly story
Until the last couple of Friday birthdays it has been "Good Friday" so I always thought that would counteract any bad luck, wrong. It was a Good Friday, my birthday, about 12 years ago when my husband planned a fishing trip and wasn't home for my birthday, my dryer broke leaving me hanging clothes through my house to dry…

Rough week
I have been having horrible, horrible "rib" pain on the side where I had the bone mets in my ribs. I have been freaked out and scared all week. Pain has been crippling. Last night, a rash broke out and I realized that this was not a recurrence but shingles. I never, ever thought I would be thrilled to welcome shingles.…

Maybe Lymphedema???
I noticed a swelling in my hand yesterday as I was driving into work. Also as I was in exercise class I noticed when I reached up or out with the effected side's arm I felt sort of a pinch type pain. I asked a co worker to judge my arms to see if one looked larger than the other. She noted that the hands, wrists, and…

Relay for Life musings
It's been a long time since I've posted... I'm 2+ years cancer free and have been having a ball getting on with my life. I just wanted to let everybody know that I'm our team captain for the 2012 Relay for Life in our little rural Arizona town. At the meeting last night, when we were sharing about ourselves, I was asked…

Sexuality issues
I just can't seem to get over having lost all breast sexuality. I wasn't supposed to lose two breasts... just one. But reconstruction left me with one post-mastectomy reconstructed 'breast' (I still don't consider it a breast) and an implanted natural breast that now has absolutely zero sensation in the nipple. It has been…

Just diagnosed with DCIS and scared
Was diagnosed in March via a mammography. Looked very small and contained, receptor positive, o stage. Had lumpectomy April 5th and pathology report was discussed on the 11th. Tissue came back with 3separate quadrants showing low grade DCIS in 2 and intermediate in 1 area. Doctor tells me I can't have another lumpectomy…
