1st chemo today
Hi all, Well I did it! I started chemo. Swore I never would and still wish I hadn't, but necessary evil I guess. As expected on day one, I feel pretty good. I "arm wrestled" my doc about the steroids. She only gave me 10 mgs the day of! YAY! That's an answer to prayer by the way from across the country. I know what those…

I think the port hurts more than the actual mastectomy.I still have the onq pain pump in until tomorrow. I had the mastectomy with the exspander put in. Had quite a few lymph nodes taken as…

New to the club
Hello! I have been ease dropping on alot of your posts and I just had to join the club. I have been a mammographer for 26 years and I can tell you, I never wanted to be on this side of breast cancer. I found out August 2nd that I have DCIS. I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction. I found out Oct 13, that after three…

DIEP flap vs implants
I spoke with a PS today regarding reconstruction. He seems to like the flap recon but said I am only a fair candidate because I don't have much tissue for reconstruction. I am also only a fair candidate for the implants because I had radiation only on the right so it may be hard to get them to match. The skin may not do…

Large Harvard Study: One drink a day is too much
I decided years ago to leave alcohol behind and have been pretty good about it. I currently drink about 4 drinks per year and feel guilty about that. Why? Because there is no good news out there about alcohol and breast cancer. The link has been studied ad nauseum since the 1980's and it is real. I now treat my loss of…

Thank you pink sisters
Just a few weeks ago, I posted a question regarding depression after treatments and surgeries ended. I mentioned the doctor put me on zoloft. Well a few days after I posted, I went to the doctor and she switched me to lexpro. I feel the difference already. I've only cried once. Sometimes, I feel overly chippery. One of the…

Hi lovely ladies! I feel like I'm going crazy! I finished radiation towards the end of Aug. and did my mammo last month - ouch! My question is, is it normal to have pulling pains on the side of surgery (I had a lumpectomy)? My breast is swollen and the skin is pink/red with signs of rash? The pains come and go. As a…

Radition for Bone Mets/Pain? Other treatments?
I am having intense pain in my legs, like difficult to walk some days. I have been on Femara for 18 months. Before I would have a few aches, bothersome but I was able to manage. Had a bone scan last week, and it showed no progression of the bone mets. But I was shocked when my doctor said none of my multiple mets showed…

Daughter teased at school because a girl showed everyone a picture of me bald from last year :(
Hi everyone. Sharing something that happened to my 10 year old daughter yesterday. For some of you who may not know me, I was diagnosed with IDC stage 2 last year at age 34, and 2 months after my diagnosis my mother was also diagnosed with breast cancer. I have a 10 year old and a 3 year old daughter. My oldest daughter…
