I am a 'suitcase'... (aka Tamoxifen and nuttiness...)
I am really a 'nutcase', but thanks to autocorrect on my phone, I am now a 'suitcase'. I just wanted to vent about all the stinkin' time I waste looking for stuff that isn't really lost. I just forget where I put it or saw it five minutes earlier. I can look at the shoe rack, not see the shoes I want,(which are right in…

Surgery on Friday.
My final reconstruction, that is the nip and tuck, port removal and a recent addition of hernia surgery. Actually, it turns out not to be a tear in the stomach muscle but a seperation of the stomach muscles in the middle that they are going to sew back together. It is supposed to be a 6 hr surgery, significanly less than…

Tattoos for a Cure - Fundraiser
I just wanted to share something that my friends did for me, and for us, over the weekend. I realize that tattoos are not for everybody, but there are ALOT of misconceptions out there about people who are tattooed/tattoo artists and tattoo shops. My friend Zaq owns a tattoo shop in St. Joseph, Michigan. I met him about 5-6…

Positive BRAC2
This December it will be 9 years since I was diagnosed with bc and went through lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and reconstruction (large lumpectomy). At the time I was diagnosed, the BRAC testing was brand new, and I didn't have a family history of bc. Last year, my gyn suggested I have the test done since I have a daughter.…

OT - a funny!
A couple was celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Their domestic tranquillity had long been the talk of the town. People often commented on what a peaceful and loving couple they were. A local newspaper reporter was inquiring as to the secret of their long and happy marriage. "Well, it dates back to our…

Having a bad day!
I seem to be having a bad day today. Most days I stay pretty calm. I keep saying I've been given a lot of grace with this disease but today I am feeling some fear. I don't think the tumor is shrinking. If it isn't, I'll have to go back to the surgeon sooner rather than later. The larger the tumor the more radical the…

Much murmuring. Deja Vu. As of now I know nothing. Outwardly Im not panicking. Inwardly. Well you know the dread. Anyway. I can't get…

OT - How to make 40 years disappear
Go to your High School reunion! OMG! I had so much fun! It was soooo much better than high school actually was. We even decided to meet for breakfast this morning. We looked great - only a few I didn't recognize instantly. I found that I had a few pink sisters among our group, too. A classmates brother works for the school…

My Problem, My Plan and Your Input Needed
So, I found a lump in the only breast I have left last night. Needless to say, that gave me a lot of time to formulate a plan. Since I've been thru this before, I know the drill. First, the coincidence: Last time, I was diagnosed 2 months before my dear niece's wedding. I only told my "little family", sons and their…

OT Feeling sorry for myself
OK, you all know I love to garden. How can something so zen-like and restorative be so treacherous? I am speaking of poison ivy here. I was gardening in shorts and, because I can't bend since my back surgery, I was sitting on the ground on a boat cushion. I KNOW what poison ivy looks like and I have no idea how I sat in…

A new hurdle is coming my way
I've not posted in a while. I've been in a forum at yahoo. They have a cancer group, and I have become interested in animated gifs and tags for e-mail, so I've been experimenting with them. I wish I could insert them here and then I could "WoW" you with cute pictures. My news is this: I have a tumor in the breast I have…

Sad day. :(
My mother just found out via community newsletter today that one of me and my sister's beloved elementary school teachers recently passed away from breast cancer. :( Up to this point, I was fortunate enough to not have people I knew personally die from breast cancer, but this hit so close to home for my mother, sister, and…

Question about first chekup after chemo
I finished chemo in July and have my first checkup visit with my oncologist in a couple weeks. I was wondering what to expect and any suggestions for questions to ask. I know they will be drawing blood. What are they looking for? My surgeon ordered a mammogram for December. Are there any other tests they order? I guess now…
