Pain after lumpectomy
I had a lumpectomy in July followed by 33 radiation treatments. (chemo first) I was wondering if any of you who have also had lumpectomies, how long does the breast pain continue? I do not really have any armpit pain just sometime experience sharp shooting or stabbing pains in my left breast around the area where the lump…

Hi all- I wanted to share a quick update on my mom & her treatment. Yesterday she had her 3rd of 6 chemo treatments, so she's at the halfway point!! She has just 1 more AC treatment, then she'll have 2 treatments of Taxotere. I had the exact same chemo regimen & had a MUCh easier time with the taxotere. I took her to…

If given the choice... chemo or no??
Ok friends, weeks ago, after reviewing my ONCO (22 to 14 to 9) with my nurse, she gave me the choice of whether or not to face chemo tx's. She also gave me two different regimens to choose from. I jumped in head first and said hell ya I'm going to do everything I can to fight what we can't see right? Well, now that I've…

Exchange surgery scheduled for Monday, 11/15
Needless to say, I am very excited to get these expanders out. Talk about no way to get comfortable as far as sleeping goes. Neither my surgeon nor I anticipate any problems but you never know. Keep me in your thoughts Monday as I go for my exchange surgery at 1:00. It's done on an outpatient basis, so I will be home late…

Time for some fun!
My husband and I will be going away for a long weekend. We are going to spend some quality time alone. We are also going to be celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary on Saturday. With all that has happened this year we really need this and I am so greatful to have had him here with me. Hugs, Georgia

No woman is an Island either....
Ladies, first off I really missed you all. It's funny how you make a connection to people just by posting on a board. I was in my shell for quiet some time now. I am just biding my time till I am reunited with the city that makes me feel alive. And woods and ocean... Though I didn't make a peep, I never stopped caring and…

mastectomy incision scar
I had posted my concern earlier, and today I saw my doctor. Part of my incision has inflamation after 2 years, and a very tender "????" directly under it that is different, in the center. So, Monday morning I will have the ultrasound. It could be other things, but we need to rule out (hopefully) a recurrence.

half way there
You would think I should get use to this by now, but NOT, I start taxotere on Friday for the other half of my treatment and I'm alittle nervous about it. Ladies, please tell me it's not that bad and what can I expect. I just can't wait till this is over, I hate it and could really use some positive thoughts on Friday.…

Quick chemo route or longer??
I was given the option of doing chemo every 2 weeks for 16 weeks or every 3 for 24 weeks. I would love to get it over with quicker but my husband is really against it. He thinks it will be too hard on me. I work full time and we have a very crazy active almost 5 yr old! Did anyone do the every 2 week route? I really wanted…

This Board Can Be Depressing Sometimes, But The Lung Cancer Board..Wow
I've been reading the lung cancer board due to my sister's diagnosis, and it's a very sad place. You start to notice that there are a few people who have been there a while, but not many. A lot of people show up asking for answers for their loved ones, but there is an underlying sense of hopelessness and dispair in the…

Hair care products 2-
Yes, I'm back on the hair thing...I posted a similiar topic at the end of April before I had even finished chemo...now I'm 6 months out with short wavy/curly hair. I use Shea Moisture from Target because it's organic. It costs $9.99 for a 12 oz. bottle. It's ok, I get a lot of compliments...I wanna know what other good…

I Wonder...
Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are going dead? Why do banks charge a fee on 'insufficient funds' when they know there is not enough money? Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet? Why do they use sterilized…

just have to get this off my chest
I fell rather small, but two people who I have worked with have been blessed with excellent lives. They are people who have been incredibly cruel. Some times I just wonder . I would not EVER treat people the way they do, but they have friends and wonderful families. One because she is funny and outgoing, and nice to her…

COMMON GROUND
I go to see my onco today so he can check on how my ornery rash and tummy troubles are doing (both are much better). He tells me I am doing well and he is pleased with how things are going, gives me a hug and tells me he will see me in 4 months. I head over to my husbands doctor appointment with his skin doctor secure in…

Lumpectomy tomorrow
and sentinel node biopsy. Although I am anxious about the pathology of the node I am looking forward to having this beast cut out! Three breast surgeons, radiologist who did core bx and radiologist oncologist don't "think" it spread to the node but until the pathology is done no guarantees. I have decided to opt for…

UPDATE: A celebrity in our midst!
So there I am at 6:00 this morning, heading to work on the bus down Ventura Boulevard, and who should I see 7 feet tall above a Jack in the Box on a billboard for our local hospital's cancer center...but our own faith_trust! Now, this IS Los Angeles...many women you see on billboards are half-naked, strategically draped…

Bada Bing... too funny!
The economy is now so bad that: I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail. African television stations are now showing 'Sponsor an American Child' commercials! I ordered a burger at McDonald's and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?" CEO's are now playing miniature golf. Exxon-Mobil laid…

My volunteer work for ACS
As I have previously posted, I have volunteered for the Look Good Feel Better program. I had my first day on Monday. All I was required to do was to set up. I however be staying each time to assist if needed and possibly clean up afterwards. The facility at the Mayo clinic is just beautiful. I had never been there before…
