Chemo for TNBC
Hi all.... What a wonderful site and group of people! My sister is in the 'pick-a-chemo' phase of her treatment. Just wondering what you all had, even tho I know it is very individual. She was diagnosed with invasive dc, had a 1.9 cm tumor, stage I, grade III. No lymphnode involvement. Had mastectomy w/tissue expander…

Surgery after chemotherapy?
Hi there- I'm new to this forum but not new to bc - I was diagnosed in early May w/invasive ductal carcinoma. I guess you'd call it triple positive; it's ER, PR & HER2 positive. No lymph nodes seemed to be involved except a couple of suspects toward the center of my chest that they don't want to remove. My tumor was over 5…

Heading to the beach!
I had my 5th herceptin treatment today. This was my first herceptin treatment alone. The other four I had with chemo. My last chemo was August 25th. So instead of crashing this Saturday from the chemo & steroids, we are driving to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to our condo for a week! I can't wait. It has been a long…

Bad news from the onc today
Six weeks ago I finished 18 weekly treatments with Taxol and herceptin and am feeling quite good, almost "normal." Since the Taxol I've been on herceptin and zometa every 3 weeks with aromasin (hormone.) I thought things were stable with my many tumors, (I'm stage IV with tumors in the lungs, liver and bones.) Just got a…

Where I've been, where I am and where I am going.
Some know my story. It began a little over a year ago when I found out I had DCIS. Within a month of that diagnosis my mom was put under the care of hospice. In November she died from BC. Winter was agonizing as I waffled between traditional treatment for DCIS and DMX. I was BRAC1 and 2 negative but my mom and my…

Chemo #2 & Hair Loss
I had my second chemo this past Monday. It went fine, though I am MUCH more tired this time around. Plus, when I woke up on Monday, I found that my hair had finally started really coming out. By this afternoon I couldn't take the shedding any longer so I had Hubby shave it. It's about 1/8 inch long now & still coming out…

Chemo Burn
During my 3rd treatment of chemo, I received a burn because the medicine dripped out of the IV unto my skin. My skin did not turn black until about a week later. It has now been over six weeks since this happened. I contacted the doctor (and she saw it during my fourth and final chemo treatment) and told me to put aloe and…

Sister update.
Just got the news from my sister. Turns out that the lump the Doc. found is just a fibroid. They will keep an eye on it though especially because of her history with pancreatic cancer. Thanks to all of you for you prayers and positive thoughts; I truly believe that all that power had a lot to do with the results. Thanks…

After Implant Exchange...
Hello! I had my exchange surgery 3 weeks ago and just wondered what experiences other bc sisters have had. I vacuumed the other day and oh boy, the muscle spasms started! How long does this last, or is it unusual to still suffer from this after expanders are removed? It's amazing how much work those chest muscles do! I…

Night Sweats
Been having night sweats and sleeplessness since finding out about the Breast Cancer. Had my original biopsy on 9/2. Is this just my "shock" or could this be a side effect from the biopsy? PJ's are wet, sheets and hair wet .... if I take off the coves get chills..put them on and the heat flashes start again. Will this go…

Just diagnosed with triple negative
I'm not quite sure what to expect. I already had the lump removed and now I will be starting chemo and radiation. I have been so numb from all of this and really could use some support from other wonderful women with the same. Really scared right now!!

Hi, Can anyone tell me their experience about how long it takes for hair to start growing back after chemo. ~*~* What Have You Learned In Your Journey With Breast Cancer ~*~*
I think this is a great question, if I say so myself. LOL I think the answers will vary a lot, and possibly, they will vary in regards to what place we are in our diagnosis, surgery, treatment and lives. So, what have you learned with being diagnosed with breast cancer? Thanks! ♠♣ Susie ♠♣

I carried you all with me this weekend!!!!!
Some of you ( ok~ MOST of you) know that I am happily married to a Native American~ an amazing man in his own right, and on top of that, a Tribal elder, a spiritual man, and one so involved in the renewal and preservation of his culture. I am honored daily to be in his company, and the company of his tribe. His Tribe, the…

We often have threads here with recommendations for books we've found helpful or inspiring -- I love to share my own suggestions for books that helped me, so I spent some time this weekend exploring my "resources" page, to see if I could upload the information there. It's in the same place where you find someone's…

Seven Down - - - - One to Go
I haven't been posting much but today was Donna's 3rd Taxol (after 4 AC); One more Taxol left; then no more chemo!!! Although there will be rads and Tamoxifin (even though she is trip -, that very weak positive is enough for her Onc. to want her take it); being done with chemo in two weeks will be a HUGE monkey off her…

Saw Onc for 1'st follow up after treatment & Mammo
My onc put me somewhat at ease today regarding my not so nice mammo. He said that it's not unusual for that first mammo after treatment to show areas that are usually nothing more than scar tissue. With the breast exam today, he said everything seemed to be ok. I'll repeat the mammo and ultra sound in Feb. I stopped…

Look Good Feel Better
Today I attended a session on Look Good, Feel Better sponsored by ACS. It was wonderful. There were about 9 of us cancer patients. We had a certified beautician who was so helpful. We each received a bag full of cosmetics valued at well over $200. They even had free wigs for anyone who wanted one. Char

Love of a Friend - a poem for all my wonderful sisters out there

I thought that this poem was very appropriate considering all the love that I have seen written in the posts on the discussion boards. I hope that you all enjoy…
