Had fitting for prostheses
I went to a shop called Essentials for the Special Woman today for a fitting for post mastectomy bras and prostheses. What a terrific store! They carry everything for the cancer woman. I was so impressed as they send all paper work directly to my insurance company and will bill me later my portion. I walked out with 3…

Finally starting chemo
Greetings! Two months after dx and 5 weeks after my lumpectomy, I start chemo on Monday. I am relieved to finally be starting - after all of the on again, off again, re-tests, etc, but I am scared. My oncotype score is 22, so here we go! Think of me at 8 am on Monday!

Maintaining perspective
I have noticed a few boards during my respites here that exceed my level of expertise, and to be frank have made me uncomfortable. Ladies that require a lot more than I am capable of giving emotionally or intellectually. Yet, I'm proud that some of you have the 'brass ovaries' to deal with some touchie topics with an…

Had a tiny wart...warning
Ok, I had a small wart next to my eye last year. Derm took it off and all's ok. About 6 months ago another small one developed under my eye. Once in a while I noticed it was in my field of view. O well, then stupid CA came along and I figured I would wait to get it removed. Then, sometime after 2nd chemo, I noticed it…

Can anyone recommend a good PS for a Latissimus Dorsi Flap in Arizona?
I have had several consultations with various PS in the Phoenix area. It seems they all agree that my best option is a Lat. Flap. My problem is that most of the doctors that do these surgeries have only been practicing on their own for a few years or less. It is hard to find good reviews. I would appreciate any advice…

Fought the battle
When I was first diagnosed with cancer a good friend said to remember if you only get to bear the scars if you fight the battle to win the war. Didn't think a lot about it at the time but now that I had the mastectomy and well on the way to the "new normal life" the scars are looking mighty good and I'll say I'm proud of…

Yes, You Can Get a Port Removed in a Doctor's Office
So, today I had my port removed after it being in for 9 months--in my surgeon's office. I love him and trust him completely. After a couple of quick Lidocaine injections, I was pretty much numb. He made the incision right over the old one where he put it in. I felt quite a bit of pressure and tugging when he was taking the…

1st Mammo and new doc tomorrow - Will you come with me?
Tomorrow I go for my first mammo after my lumpectomy and will also meet my new oncologist. My oncologist who had seen me through all of my treatments left the cancer center and I've been assigned to someone new. I've heard good things about my new doc, so I'm not too worried about that, but I am feeling a bit nervous about…

5 Down 3 to Go!!!!
First Taxol is done; just waiting for the fallout from it. It really does seem like this is taking forever; and that is a really long treatment; 10:30 (onc appt) out at about 4:30; crazy long. No real problem except for a little kind of stoned feeling and burning feeling in her veins for 5 minutes during the benedryl drip…

Starting Chemo Thursday
I felt very alone until I found this board. I'm newly diagnosed and starting A/C tomorrow, and I need some advice. I know from reading some of your posts that I need to drink much water. I've decided my minimum intake should be 12 cups a day. I'm already doing 10 so that shouldn't be difficult if my stomach cooperates. My…
