Do you ever feel 'ugly'?
I don't know if this is due to Christmas parties where everyone is decked out in their holiday finery or what - but - I am feeling SO unattractive. I had a good cry this morning (I haven't cried in many weeks) when I looked in the mirror. The cancer has stolen my breasts. The chemo took most of my body hair - including…

Mom Diagnosed Christmas Eve ... Questions about Doctors
Hello. My mom got the call on Christmas Eve that she had breast cancer. Her brain went blank when she heard cancer so we only have sketchy details for now. What I got out of her was that she had invasive in situ breast cancer. I don't know how in situ and invasive can be used together, but that is not my main question. She…

Hi, I am Megan. I have been reading on here for awhile, but, never wrote anything. I had a lumpectomy and just finished rads. I was very glad to be done with them. They exhausted me. So, why am I up now? I think too much sometimes about my breast cancer and can't sleep. Does anyone else do that? I guess I am still so…

Out of no where the breast will be itchy then go away. I had no pain after the lumpectomy, minor throbbing once in a while ... but no pain. I was totally amazed. Anyway, now it's bruising a little and becoming very sensitive. The itching sentsation isn't in one main place it seems to be all over the breast. Hopefully that…

Graduated from RADS this morning!!!
I finished my 34th radiation treatment this morning, just in time for Christmas. I am so happy and lucky to have gotten through my treatments, chemo and radiation, with minimal side effects. I feel very happy to be through, but it's bittersweet at the sane time. I'm not going to go there, instead I'll just enjoy being…

TRAM reconstruction
Does anyone know how much fat is necessary to perform a TRAM reconstruction? I am looking into that procedure as an option after mastectomy for DCIS. Some have said that I may not have enough fat in my belly. How much do I have to be able to pinch to be a candidate for this procedure?

question about rads
I will be starting rads in january and am wondering if I am going to have to raise both arms or just the side being radiated? I have a large open wound under my other arm that is taking forever to heal after surgery. I have had 4 subsequent surgeries (revisions) and the surgeons have decided to try and let the tissue heal…

Has anyone out there refused chemo?
I am new to this "nightmare" and I have been told I need chemo. I really really don't want chemo. I'm worried it will empty our savings account and I'm not sure I can handle feeling sick for that long. I also can't picture myself without hair. I get the impression nobody ever refuses chemo treatment. I would appreciate any…

Emla Cream
Ok, I never used this before. I'm going for my 4th treatment tomorrow, but last time I went, I got a nurse that hurt me when putting the IV into my port. It never hurt before, not even in the least. She suggested I get my Onc to prescribe Emla cream (I suggested I not have her as my nurse, lol). But to be on the safe side,…
