anoscopy report
I posted here in mid-August after I had a routine colonscopy, and the doctor found a suspicious lesion in the anal canal. The pathology report indicated low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion with glandular cells present. I had asked if anyone knew what "glandualar cells present" might mean. I was looking for…

Hi Everyone! I haven't been on in a while because I started a part time job and by the time I get home I'm exhausted. Anyway, I'm 8 months post treatment. I have had 2 CT scans and I'm still cancer free! YAY! But I'm still bleeding. Sometimes my right side hurts. I bled before I new I had cancer but never this much. When I…

Good website for survivors
I just want to share this website with you. It has some good information and suggestions for cancer survivors. I have been reading several books and will share when I have summarized my findings. It sure is hard to sort through all of the information and misinformation out there. This site is recommended by the Farrah…

Rash/hives
Has anyone experienced a rash or hives on their torso? I am 2 years out of treatment and just wondering if it may be caused by radiation. I understand that it could be caused by an allergic reaction or nerves and am being treated with antihistamines and steroid cream, but the cancer demons begin to dance...

Hello all. I've been post treatment for almost 6months for stage 3b anal cancer now and was given the all clear on my first scope and cat scan three months ago. They said there was some small marks on cat scan in the lung area but were not too worried about it back then Cause i have a history of asthma and he called it…

Surgery on the 8th.
Finally the day is set to remove my rectal cancer at the Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. Will be a bit complicated, because they also have to remove a part of my tail bone and do a flap from my stomach to have a better closure. So there will be the main dsurgeon, a plastic surgeon and a spine surgeon. I will end up with a…

unscheduled visit tomorrow
Just to recap my last biopsies in the OR were back in June, they showed that my tumor was now microinvasive, I opted to hold off treatment and saw doc every few weeks since, however in August after a good checkup with scope she said she would see me in Nov, I called yesterday since I have been having symptoms again since…

I always keep my promises:) And I promised you that I'd share the link with you and the group when we finally, officially got one of my stories published. Response from EWTN...Not good
I got the following response from Ewtn. So, she meant to say that "the wages of sin" is death by anal cancer for homosexuals only! I am disgusted beyond belief that a woman who cloaks herself in my religion would get on the air waves and be so ignorant of the facts and hateful towards cancer patients. She needs to be…

For all you married folks, there is a new study out showing amazing benefits of being married! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/23/married-cancer-survival-marriage-death_n_3977278.html Could it be that love is the best medicine?

Fuming about ignorant words on EWTN
oh, I am so angry! I was watching tv tonight and I turned the channel to EWTN, the Catholic channel. I just happened to turn it on when the host, Johnette Benkovic, was speaking about anal cancer! She said that anal cancer was a result of unnatural conduct and that " the wages of sin is death". She said the science…

My cost on Obamacare
I have figured out that my new individual "Silver Plan" on Obamacare exchange will cost me $10,656. for 2014. This plan has a very high deductible and 20% coinsurance!!!!! That is $888/month The plan I have now has a low deductible, no coinsurance, low copays and cost $ 7800/ year. That is $650/ month. Ugh!

No Liver Lesions!
As you all know my CT on Moday showed a questionable small spot. We followed up with a liver ultrasound and it shows all clear. What a relief!!! So now we "just" have to cut this sucker out, get some more chemo and we should be good. Not crazy about losing my Sphincter and the permanent colostomy, but at least nobody can…

Long day
Firstly, thank you so much for the prayers! I met with the pulmonologist today. The growth in my lung has not changed much in 3 month scan comparisons. The doctor does not know for sure, but he suspects it is a neuroendocrine tumor. They won't know for sure until it comes out. It is in a place that is hard to get at. They…

How Do You Stay Positive and Hopeful?
We all know that the cancer journey is a roller coaster ride. You have highs and lows, successes and defeats. In the middle of all this is hard to stay positive and hopeful and we all have to build a new reality. I'm wondering if you have any "technique", ritual, activity or a mental process to get you and keep you in a…

Post Treatment Care
I'm finding it very challenging to get help or admission from my docs regarding the PN I'm experiencing in my hands and feet. They all look at me like I'm crazy. My oncologist nurse actually told me the doctor probably would not believe that my PN is related to chemo as it started five or six months after treatment ended.…

most recent test results
I had an appointment with my oncologist yesterday. Mri unchanged (looks more & more like the lymph node is in fact my ovary). CT scan clear.Recent EUA also good. Looks like I have eventually got my first official NED 8 months after treatment ended. So far, so good. Will be thinking of you, Mary, today. Liz

Laz' Update.
So I got the report of the MRI and the chest/liver CT. Unfortunatelly my rectal cancer did not responded to the radiation and chemo at all. So I need full resection. Lymph nodes look ok. I decided to go with a surgen at Cedar Sinai in Los Angeles. He was very confident, warm, patient with us and the hospital has very good…

Tomorrow
Well, tomorrow is the big day to meet with the doctor to discuss if there may be mets to the lungs. I had the scan 3 weeks ago, so I am thinking it must be ok, or they wouod have called. I don't want any more cancer. Twice was enough. I know I have asked for prayers before, but I am asking again. My meeting is at 10:30. I…

Burning feet!
The bottom of my feet are sometimes burning soooo bad I can't sleep! They are getting worse and now my little toes feel somewhere between a tingle and electric current running through them. I've had it on the mild side for quite awhile but didn't think it would get worse. Anyone else out there have this?

Laz's Wedding.
Sep 16, 2013 - 3:18 pm Thank you so much for all your well wishes. I read every one of them with joy and told my bride about how nice this community is. The wedding day was beautiful. We had 10 guest and we did everything ourselves. The only sad thing was that my ex let my daughter stay for only two hours so she couldn't…

Health care exchanges
Well, the numbers for the ObamaCare exchange are out and i went to a meeting where it was all explained by government workers. It was explained that some groups will see insurance rates soar, because that is the way the law is written. Of course, I am in that group! I am so sorry that I voted for Obama, who I now dub…

Vaginal bleeding?
I am 6 months out from chemo and radiation. I am not hurting as bad now while having intercourse, but bleed during and after. Anyone know from experience if and when this will go away. I am asuming that it is because it is still healing up there. But I need to know if anyone else is or had this happen after radiation and…

Update, scope and scan
So I had a PET/CT scan end of August, and a sigmoidoscopy four days ago showing no signs of cancer, so I guess I'm a NED'er now. Finished radiation 2nd week of june so 3 months out from treatment now. bill

Stress and cancer
I don't know if there any studies to corroborate my theory, that prolonged stress can cause cancer. I have seen time and time again in my female friends that they are diagnosed with cancer some number of years after enduring traumatic, long term stress. I know for me, I was diagnosed some years after a horrible, gut…

Skin changes
The skin in the crease between my legs and groin has been darkening, but is suddenly raw, burning and peeling. I assume this is also a burn from radiation, but should I treat it with the same Radiaplex cream? I don't see the doctor for 3 days more so I wondered if anyone could answer?
