Studies of Young Guys with Low level PCa
Hello all: My first post. My stats are below. Looking for studies re: longer expected life spans. Most all I have read are limited at 5 or 10 years. One of my issues is that I am 52 and though fairly low risk cancer, I'm reticent to just do active surveillance as it appears that even two years out, around 20% of the AS…

Felt woozy for the remainder of the day which made getting used to the catheter fun. Consultant said the surgery went well and that he managed full nerve…

How do I calculate prostate volume size?
I am trying to fill out the Mayo Clinic prostate cancer calculator and they are asking for: Prostate Volume (cc). I had a CT scan after my biopsy and it says: Prostate measures 5x4.7 cm. Can I just multiply those two figures to get 23.5? But yet those are centimeters and the calculator wants cubic centimeter. cc vs cm. ARE…

Anybody have Brachy with Boost?
I am meeting today with a dr who owns a brachy clinic. My urologist says my case is too aggressive for brachy, I would need to do the Boost, which he says intensifies side effects. I am doing the meeting to collect information. I am 64, a 4+3, PSA 3.5. Anybody done this? I understand it hasn't been around long enough to…

My husband was diagnosed five years ago at age 53. He hadn't been to a doctor in 20 years and worked out everyday and appeared healthy. Firmagon and liver enzymes
It looks like about 50% of people on Firmagon have elevated liver enzymes. After 30 days on Firmagon my levels are AST = 41 (ref range 10 - 35) and ALT = 63 (RR 9 - 46). All other levels normal. I have also read that these levels are not dangerous unless they are around 100 ish. Has anybody else had any experience with…

How long after surgery until you were able to work physically?
I am 64, in good shape, semi-retired. However, I do want to work several days a month to bring in extra cash and my work can be physical. I am a professional videographer, so there is the loading and unloading of heavy cases into my van, a fairly heavy camera on my shoulder, twisting, bending, etc. I have read that for six…

Pre-op paperwork - complications likelihood
So I am just reading the paperwork I got at the pre-op on Monday. In the common (1 in 10) section is says "discovery that cancer cells have spread". This sounds rather bleak and the statement does not appear to control for Gleason score or stage. Is it really as grim as this? Cheers C EDIT - made title more sensible

My Nurse Navigator Didn't Notify me of a Gleason Score Change!
Just joined! My 1st Post. How would you react to this? We respect our doctor but have reservations as to the running of the department, path lab and now the Nurse Navigator. Cyberknife v. RP
Would value input from those who may have chosen "cyberknife" over radical prostatectomy. I was 2 of 12 cores positive (5% and 15%) and Gleason of 6 (3+3). So...the good docs suggested I think about which treatment plan to follow but to do something in next 90 days. I realize RP removes and could eliminate the worry for…

Hoping to avoid hormone therapy if I can help it...
Hello all, I'm new to this forum. I was diagnosed with PC on May 8, 2017. I'm 53 years old, in otherwise excellent health. I had not a physical for a few years and never had a PSA test, so my primary care physician strongly advised that I take it - so I did. My first PSA result came back as 5.89, then took it again (after…
