I did not know that he ordered this test since the computers were down at the time and the nurse just wrote the code of the test. Otherwise, I would not havve agreed. Talking about…

Dairy and Prostate Cancer: Is Milk a 4-Letter Word?
Since my diagnosis two weeks ago today, I've been doing a considerable amount of research as many posters on here do as well. One thing that really strikes me is the disparity in the PCa density among American and European men as compared to Asians of all age groups. Men in North America have prostate cancer at the rate of…

Teaching Hospital Food for Thought
Surgeons learn more by doing than by watching so they are given every opportunity possible to "do" while in training. When surgery is done at a teaching hospital there are high odds that the procedure will actually be done by a resident or fellow with oversight by an "attending" surgeon. To me it is very important to ask…

Lupron Injections
Have been on Casodex for a week. Next week I will be having a Lupron injection (my first), prior to going to Europe for three weeks. I have heard that the side effects are not to be taken lightly---brutal it sounds like (hot flashes, irritability, sleeplessness). Can anyone who has done so enlighten me on this? Thank you.

urinary retention after foley?
What is normal urination after foley removal? Should I be able to urinate freely (but just unable to stop until Kegels give control)? I am blocked; can't "go"; have urinary retention like when I had BPH before. Urine drains indirectly, passively, and spasmodically (squirts at various times), but I can't "go" when I try…

to 'the wife'
Hi, I do hope that your husbands HIFU goes very well, and I hope that you will document your experiences on this board. I wish you all the very best. We heard just too much controversy to be comfortable, and of course the exorbitant price (for us) was way too much. I do have a point to share with you. Here's what you have…

GOING FOR PROTON
Since getting the Dx from my physician, it has been a roller coaster of emotions; worries, grief, and relief, all bundled up together on a seemingly endless free ride. I could wait and don’t have to do anything at this stage, but my own unique situation forces me to make a decision and be clear of PC now. I am hopeful that…

Some new studies
I got some time on a computer with access to these journal articles. You can't just go download them, unless you buy a subscription ($$$), or pay over $30.00 for one article. I got the access at my local cancer center, in their library, which is run by the ACS. It's good, but they should be ashamed of themselves- one of…
