blood after biopsy
I was wondering if any others have experienced, as I have, blood in the urine after a biopsy of the prostate. Also, what was the extent of pain during the procedure?

Good News Story - Diagnosis to Surgery
I was diagnosed in July 09 when my PSA went from 3.9 in June 08 to 6.0 in May 09. The biopsy showed 3 of 12 with RLB: 35%, RLM: 75% and RA: 50%. My Gleason scores were all 3+3. RLB and RLM showed perinueral invasion. After visiting 4 urologists and discussing all the options, my wife and I decided that a robotic assisted…

Recently Diagnosed
I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. My Doctor suspected something suspicious from a DRE and wanted me to have a biopsy. I had my biopsy back on November 10th. Went back on the 24th of November and 1 out of 12 cores showed cancer (10%). My Gleason is 7 (3 + 4). My latest PSA is 2.4. My two options as recommended…

First post op PSA <0.10
To all: Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to all on the CSN. I had prostate cancer surgery October 21st, 2009. I recently had my first post-op PSA, it came back at <0.10, I'm told this is virtually undetectable and where we need to be at this point. Many thanks to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center…

husband has prostate cancer and heart disease
I've been reading all the posts and it I'm so scared. My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in Sept and also with heart disease. He has had 2 stints put in and a pacemaker and is scheduled for robotic surgery the 29th. He had to wait for several months due to the blood thinners, etc. His gleason was an 8. I don't…

Impact on Bladder after da vinci
Had my da vinci procedure in February--I have found that my bladder doesnt hold fluids as well as it used to. My doc says that the bladder was actually reduced in size as a result of the operation, since he had to remove a smal portion. interested in whether anyone else has had a similar experience.

Coloplast Virtue sling out / AMS AdVance sling in Now 100% DRY!
My number one wish for myself this Christmas was to have the Coloplast Virtue male sling, implanted last July, surgically removed from my body and replaced with an American Medical System’s AdVance male sling. My wish became reality on the 17th of December at The Cleveland Clinic. My five (5) months of tortuous pain, since…

Three Weeks Post Robotic Surgery
Well, today celebrates my 3rd week since released from the hospital from Robotic surgery. I'm still using two pads a day, one after my shower and one before going to bed. Leakage is still happening but not dramatically, only when I'm strained such as coughing, standing up, etc. Bladder doesn't seem to empty completely when…

Sonny - IG/IMRT Knocked out treatments #16 through #20 this week
Today on Christmas Eve,I completed treatment #20 of 35. To date I am still extremely blessed to have not encountered any side effects whatsoever. I am wearing a whole in my desk knocking on wood to keep this string of luck going. Wanted to take this opportunity to send all of my dear friends here, BLESSINGS FOR A WONDERFUL…

I got my diploma!
After 37 treatments, I wrapped up IMRT therapy yesterday. Started at .7 PSA ( 6 months after Davinci) and was told by oncologist that it could take up to 6 months to get to undetectable. Virtually no side effects and I'm feeling great. Happy Holidays to all.......and remember the reason for the season. George

Still BANNED from CSN / bigxbadxjohn
On or about the 11th of December 2009 I attempted to login to CSN to post an update regarding my upcoming surgery regarding what might be the first surgery in the world to remove a Coloplast Virtue sling due to continuous intolerable pain since it was implanted in my body approximately five (5) months ago. I received a…

Pads per day
Seems like a simple question but it could be the difference in why some guys use 3 pads per day and some use say 2 or even 1. What determines when you change your pad if you’re one of us still dealing with incontinence? I noticed when at work if I have to I can go 12 hours without a change its not dripping wet or soaking…

Telling the Kids
I was diagnosed back in early November. We have a 16 year old and a 19 year old who is in his freshmen year at college. We decided to wait until his first ever college exams were over and he came home. We told them this past week. Much to my surprise the conversation went very well. I got some really good advice from Nick,…

9 weeks post op
An update. My DaVinci was Oct 19, so I'm 9 weeks post op. Overall, I'm extremely happy. I feel completely able to do just about anything (although I'm a bit out of shape). I can pee faster than my 22 year old son (it's almost scary the force that comes out with the prostate gone). I have to be careful that I don't splash…

Does blood loss during surgery affect post-surgery PSA levels?
When my Dad had his prostate removed, the surgeon told him that he lost 1/3 of his blood during surgery. 6 weeks after surgery, he had follow-up PSAs taken. The first one was 3, the second one was 7. They were taken within an hour of each other and sent to different labs. A couple weeks later he had a 3rd PSA test and that…

Kegel Exercises
I am nearing 3 weeks since the removal of my catheter following DaVinci Surgery. I will see the doctor in mid-January. I am on a suggested regimen of Kegel exercises, walking for 30 minutes four times per day, and voiding every two hours, while trying to hold in between. I am currently functioning with 4 pads daily. My…

Is it typical/normal to have blood in the urine, rather fresh red color, not dark clotty blood. I did take a decent walk today and wonder if that has something to do with it ? I am 11 days post op, 2 days post cath removal. I pretty much have not had blood in the urine anytime since surgery........ And am alittle…

Sonny - IG/IMRT Treatments 10 through 15 (of 35) Done
Well it's the end of another wonderful week in the land of Oz. Today I completed my third week of Rad treatments and numbers 10 through 15. I am extremely happy to report that there are (hear me knocking loudly on wood) still no side effects from the treatments. Next week should prove interesting though. Because of the…

It's back
I am 5 and a half years out from an RRP. I am 61 and looking to enjoy a retirement in 9 months. In 5 days I will learn whether or not I qualify for a biochemical failure. My post RRP PSA was 0.19. It bounced around for a bit but once it got to 0.24 it stayed at this level for 2 tests and then rose to 0.35. My urologist has…

Post radiation PSA

Banned from CSN / bigxbadxjohn
Hello all, Last Sunday my IP access code was BANNED from CSN. I have no idea why it was banned except someone did not appreciate my postings informing other cancer survivors about my horrible experience with the Coloplast Virtue sling that was implanted in my body WITHOUT my consent five (5) months ago. The pain from this…

False alarm -- whew!
Three months ago I had my 6-month post-surgery followup PSA test and got "undetectable." (They were using the "ultrasensitive" test, so that's less than 0.01.) Two days ago I went in for the next test in the schedule at a new lab--we move around a lot (see the website), and got 2.82 ng/ml! For those of you who like math,…
