Senate Health Care Bill Would Allow Insurers to Limit Coverage for Seriously Ill Patients.
A loophole in the Senate health care bill would let insurers place annual dollar limits on medical care for people struggling with costly illnesses such as cancer, prompting a rebuke from patient advocates. The legislation that originally passed the Senate health committee last summer would have banned such limits, but a…

Orlando get together
Sonny, hows that party in Orlando coming along. Since I have been put back in one piece the doc says I can head south for the winter. I'll be down some time after the first of the year. I had to put every thing on hold while I was sick. Didn't want to spend the money if I could not head south. All is well now.

You can go back about 5 or 6 post pages and read all about it. Look for Injured by DaVinci and 22 comments. I finally am back to beig a normal person again. I had my colostomy…

One Week Post Op Visit - Cath Out !! (YEA !!)
I had my one week follow-up appointment today to remove the catheter and go over the pathology report. Removing the cath was not anywhere as difficult as I had feared. Actually, removing the adhesive patch from my leg that the tube clipped to, was the worse part. Lab results was very good. All clear margins with no…

Sonny -Checking in with Radiation Treatment Updates
Greetings to all, It's been a while since my last post. Hope you all will forgive me. Needed a little break and things have been a little busy on the home front. Thought I might update those that have been following along with Lynn and my travels down the cancer path. Just a little memory jogger on why Lynn and I are both…

36 hours post da vinci
and a huge snow storm came thru! Doing well I think, other than I have plenty of gas that seems to disrput a nice long sleep. Just got 5 hours worth, think that is the longest yet. What do you all have for a diet post surgery? Do you stick to liquid based or move into more semi=soft foods? I am pretty much pain free, not…

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!
Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Never been sick a day in my life except for the common cold. My Dr. monitors my cholesterol, blood pressure and because I said that my maternal grandfather had prostrate cancer treatment at 81 he decided to have a PSA test done. Good thing; probably would have been inoperable at 50! The day…

scans before surgery
My husband had a 4.6 psa and 4+3=7 gleason after biopsy. Surgery set for January 4th. The doctor said they wait 6 weeks after biopsy. The doctor does not think there will be any spread of the cancer, I guess based upon the 4.6 psa. He said if we wanted the cat and bone scan we could have it. I have a email to his primary…

Dry
Hi chaps, Well, I'm 1 week post cath and it looks like I'm one of the lucky few to be 99.9% dry. I think I've had maybe 2-3 leaks when I stood or bent unexpectedly. Now if I think that will happen, I just squeeze and I'm fine. I wear 1 pad if I go out for security then go without for the evening then 1 at night, again for…

Weight loss
In the grand scheme, this is a minor thing. but I lost 10 pounds after prostate surgery. Went from 224 to 214. I'm not complaining, but it sure is strange because I ate normally from the day after surgery, and didn't exactly set the world on fire with exercise. Wondering if anyone else experienced this. Thanks, Jim

Skin Bloching cause
I am in my fourth week of external beam radiation therapy. I also have had two hormone implants. Today I noticed both my arms are covered with dark bothches on the outside porton from my wrist to my shoulder. I am not sure if this is caused by the radiation or hormone treatment. Has anyone else had similiar experiences.

PSA not detectable
Good news from my urologist - My 4 week post surgery blood test revealed a PSA of 0.1 which my uro said is non-detectable the way this particular lab measure it. In fact, he said if my wife went in, she would have the same reading (of course, it's impossible for women to have prostate cancer). I've seen some posts by…

Prostate biopsy
My urologist has recommended a prostate biopsy but I have found on-line sites that claim that prostate biopsies can cause metastasis. Is this a real danger? Are there alternatives to a prostate biopsy, such as a sonogram or MRI?

Updated: Not diagnosed but a PSA blood level of 5.02
Hello All, Having a better day today than when I first posted my original thread a week or so ago. I went to a very reputable urologist today who reviewed my history, blood tests etc. Upon completing the digital exam, he advised that the prostate was completely normal and he was unable to feel any problems. Also told me to…
