Trying to decide on course of action
I, like many previous postings to this site have just been diagnosed with PC. Right now it looks like we caught it early with a PSA of 4.5 and a Gleason score of 6 on one positive core sample out of twelve. I am basically an active otherwise healthy 55 yr old with no other symptoms and like with so many other victims of…

testicular cancer
I had R/P surgery 18 months ago. Recovery went a lot better than expected. All of the related problems of the surgery resolved with time. Prior to surgery I mentioned to the Dr. that I could feel a pea sized lump on my left testical that I believe appeared after an infection years eariler. During the examination he stated…

Newly diagnosed - Hopkins
I am newly diagnosed, age 68, excellent health, with a PSA of 4.67, Gleason of 6 with ~5% involved (1 of 12 samples showed cancer in biopsy). I am contemplating robotic RP at Johns Hopkins. Any one have any input regarding Doctors there. It's top on my list 1- have a friend who went there and 2 - it's reputation and 3 -…

Difficulty Urinating after LRP
I had LRP 16 days ago at age 46 (Gleason 7). At day 5 I had my catheter removed (erections worked yeah). The stream was weak and just got weaker (and painfull). Two days later I had to have the catheter reinstalled via a scope and wire - very painfull. I still have the catheter installed, due to have it removed next week…

Having RP on Tue the 17th
Just a note: I selected RP due to my financial condition and wifes health there is a real need to stay local. My Gleason is 6 and the Dr. said there was a 50-50 chance that I may be incurable and he would close after lymph node removal. Not a good thought to go into the operating room with. Well I guess all I ask for now…

Another on the list
Well I am getting everything ready to do the DaVinchi robotic 7-16-07. After reading about a lot of others experiences, checking with an old family doctor who is not involved in this, and just my gut reaction that was my choice. I am 59 years old , had a 7.2 PSA and 3-3 6 Gleason with the lab report estimate of 98% chance…

PSA reading like a yoyo ?
I posted some weeks ago about my PSA results showing quite a jump from last year. I had radiation over 12 years ago and it seemed to do the trick. Then 3 months ago the Dr. said that the cancer was probably back because of the new PSA results. Course that almost caused another heart attack when I heard those words. The Dr.…

April 17/07 psa was up to 60. April 20/07 extreme pain and put on morphine. May 16/07 psa 290. Started on Ketocotozone and Hydrocortisone. May 22…

Newly Diagnosed, at Least Stage 2, Maybe Stage 3
Yikes! It's hard to know where to start with something like this. My wife and I are a bit "gobsmacked" as the Brits would say. I guess what I'd like to hear is other's experiences with a similar diagnosis. I'm 48, in good health. There is very little history of any type of cancer in my family, except that my…

blood clot
Hello - my PCa surgery was 3/3/06, have had chemo, radiation and hormmone therapy since then, and my PSA is "undetectable". But now I have a blood clot in my right leg and am doing 2 injections/day of Lovadex [?sp]. I wonder -- has anyone else had a blood clot? How can you tell how well the medication is "resolving" it?…
