update: chemo options/clincial trial
I met with a senior gyn oncologist on Friday. I can't remember everything he said but I left his office feeling good. Not as worried as I have been recently. He said I shouldn't be too concerned about going into remission. He seemed as if going into remission was no big deal. I didn't think to ask if he was acting that way…

Hi not sure if I posted here about my "Race for Life". Here in the UK Cancer Research hold many charitable events around the country to raise money. They were originally based on the struggle with breast cancer and ONLY women are allowed to take part. I signed up to my local race along with my daughter and 11 other…

Local NOCC Meet Up Today
I attended my local chapter of the NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) this AM and was very happy to make the acquaintance of a nine year, stage IIIc survivor and a seven year survivor (also IIIc). The nine year survivor has received five courses of chemo but she looks great and is currently in remission (again). The…

PPC & Diet
Hey, anybody have any recommendations for nutritional changes that support staying healthy after PPC diagnosis? Just came across somebody who recommended coenzyme, bovine cartilage and wheat grass. Doesn't sound good, but wondering if anyone has done this or something else to hopefully stave off recurrence? thanks McE

Mostly Read Now
God's morning to all! I come here each day and read the boards or most days, but don't post to much anymore. You all continue to be an inspiration to me and each other, to all the newbies I say Live Your Life to the Fullest, try not to focus on every pain or bump in numbers (believe I know that is easier said then done). I…

Good News!
After experiencing come cramping and pain on my left side, my oncologist ordered a CT scan...thankfully, there were no signs of cancer! In addition, my CA125 has been holding between 13-15 since February. The anxiety I experienced while waiting for my results was crazy... it just shouldn't have to be this way. It has been…

Six weeks post chemo: Hair report
Just a hair report for future chemo grads ;) Ok..I have about 1/4 of inch of fuzz all over my head. It's white and soft, but I can feel stubble that is also growing in that I think is darker. It appears to growing in at a consistent length, so I guess that's good. Although, I have noticed about a dozen hairs that are…

CA125
I was diagnosed a year ago this May with stage 3 ovarian cancer. I have been reading many posts on the discussion board and see that many have had original ca125 at 1000 and way above. Mine was at 111 before surgery and then down to 7.2 and I have been holding at 5.2. pet/negative and I feel great. Has anyone else ever had…

Has anyone taken Taxol?
Hi, I was diagnosed with stage iv ovarian cancer more than 2 years ago. My number when I started treatment was over 3,000. After a hysterectomy and chemo my ca 125 went down drastically. The Dr. has changed my chemo several times as after taking one such as Doxil, Gemsar, Carbo, etc. I get terrible side effects. My ct…

NEW RESEARCH RESULTS: Trabectedin Plus Doxil in Relapsed Ovarian Cancer
These research posts are technical and hard to understand, but I post them because they do suggest options worth mentioning to your oncologists. Translation of some of the abbreviations they use in cancer research: OS = overall survival PFS = progression free survival (either on or off treatment, not necessarily remission)…

I know just how this guy feels...
In whatever kind of a “race” life may be, I have very abruptly become a finalist. That's from a Christopher Hitchens essay about his Cancer diagnosis. Hitchens goes on to say: The oncology bargain is that, in return for at least the chance of a few more useful years, you agree to submit to chemotherapy and then, if you are…

I just lost a friend
A good friend and former colleague of mine just lost her five-year battle with ovarian cancer. Tammy Brittingham was a damned good journalist and a fine person, but I had lost contact with her until I learned she had cancer. I too am a cancer warrior: Two years ago I was diagnosed with Stage III squamous cell carcinoma of…

I am really worried
Just needed to talk about this to people who understand. Maybe I am completely off the wall and imagining it but my stomach is bloated. I used to get IBS way before I was diagnosed with cancer. Recently I have changed my diet as I am trying to lose weight and I am having IBS symptoms (well I think it is that) At the end of…

Still nervous, but have some positive news
My mom was diagnosed with Stage III/IV Ovarian Cancer on May 4th. The reason its split, is because there were signs pointing to both...Anyway when she was first diagnosed she had a CA549 now it is CA129. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I hear it's good. Life has pretty much been going on normal since she has…

Question about chemo
Hi I have had two rounds of chemo the first was cisplatin then the next week taxol and carboplatin which i will get on a monthly basis. My question is will the treatments get progressively harder? I was pretty much not feeling well for a week but then feeling pretty good. I just would like to know what to expect I forgot…

anyone's CA125 flatten out on weekly taxol?
My CA125 only dropped 1/2 point this past week, according to this morning's pre-chemo labs. The last time I took weekly taxol, my CA125 flattened out after 6 rounds in the mid-40's and stayed there for 4 more rounds, and yet I got a clear CT/PET after 10 rounds of the weekly taxol and I took a 4 month chemo break. But…

Clinical Trial
Hi I have just been told that I have several small nodules that require further treatment - too small for surgery - and my oncologist has given me information about a trial with Carbo/taxane with weekly farletuzumab (MORab). I would like to know if anyone else on this board has heard/had this treatment. My CA125 is within…
