DEAREST MEGHAN
I am so, so sorry to hear that your mother has passed away. We shared many personal emails and developed quite a friendship across the miles. anxiety
Linda Dorian's passing really has sent me into an emotional tailspin. I am so scared. I feel like nobody in my family understands. Family get to go on with their normal lives while I am stuck in my nightmare. I've been on chemo since January and nothing has made my cancer regress. I've only more advancement. My ca125 in…

Unable to have surgery...
My wife and I are new to this site but found it VERY insperational and helpful. We have a "bizarre" situation (so say the docs). My mother-in-law, Vicki, was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarion cancer in February. She had 4 round of chemo since and just recently had to stop it - the cancer spread "officially" into the lining of…

Angelina Jolie, where are you?
I read in this morning's Parade magazine that Angelina Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died of Ovarian Cancer at age 56. The superstar was very close to her mom, so I am a bit dismayed that she has not lent the weight of her fame to raising money and awareness for this terrible disease. I have read, of course, of…

single agent carbo side effects?
My 79-year old mother's recent PT showed lesions in her chest wall, so the treatment plan has changed to single agent carbo given once every three weeks via port infusion. Mom was given a Gemzar option but declined based on quality of life issues. Without the taxol, I'm thinking that the side effects might not be so bad…

CA-125 stalled?
Mom had 3 carbo/taxil treatments and they did a cat scan and physical exam and determined tumor had not shrunk enough for surgery. Now she's had another 3 chemos (3rd one today). CA-125 went from 700 down to around 150 quickly, but now the trend has really slowed down (127, 116, 114). In two weeks she is due for another…

avastin
In light of my allergic reaction to carbo, my onoclogist is now considering adding Avastin to the Gemzar. I'm wondering what monitoring is done while on Avastin. Given my history of bowel obstruction and temporary illeostomy I am nervous of the risk of bowel perforation. Is monitoring done? Thanks for any information.

My mom has finished her radiation attempt to shrink her tumor. (ovarian but located in the pelvis and blocking her rectum) The radiation did little but to give her burns on her rectal area and vagina. Just as she was healing from this pain, she got shingles. Now, 7 weeks later her shingles are clearing and they want her to…
