My mother asked me a very tough question tonight and I don't know how to answer her
Hi Everyone, Hope you are all well. I am down in Fl. with Mom and she is doing pretty damn well. She hasn't had chemo for 6 weeks and is enjoying every second. Her doc wanted her to get a CA-125 down here and if it has elevated at all, come back to NY. My mother said, "no", I want 2 months completely off. She has an…

weekly carbo/taxol?
Hi All, My mom was recently diagnosed with Uterine serous carcinoma which behaves similarly to Ovarian serous carcinoma. She has just started her chemo about 2 weeks ago and we just love her medical oncologist. He has recommended that she receive weekly doses of carbo/taxol. I was just curious to know if anyone else had…

indecision
I saw my oncologist last week and she said the Avastin is slowly shrinking the tumor but she doesn't think it will completely shrink it. She said the only chance I have of being cancer free is another surgery--a colostomy which would likely be permenant(this is due to the tumor location). And of course the cancer could…

If this doesn't work......
Hi Ladies Well it's taken me threee days to write this post. Not sure if I wanted to alarm you guys. But doctor "kiljoy" tells me that if the taxol works he'll be laughing and I siad I'll be right along with him. Then he tells me that if it doesn't work, well that means that I've ran out of options and that it would be…

First Chemo
Ok, just a quick update. First chemo was uneventful. Benadryl made me very loopy and sleepy ;) I did get my CA125 results. I'm a bit conflicted.... It was 9824 before surgery and has only dropped to 7000 after surgery. Also, CT showed a 1.5 cm nodule on peritoneal wall. Doctor M. still seems confident that we can beat this…

Update on Mammogram discussion
The radiology place called me this AM and said they would like to look at previous films. Freaked me out big time. I have had 4 mammograms in the last 9 years or so (I know....but they NEVER came back suspicious or anything other than perfectly normal, so I wasn't as good about getting the test done as I should have been).…

Mammograms
How are your mammograms looking these days? My CT scan picked up some asymetry (tissue etc that is present in one breast but not the other), so my gyn/onc did a breast exam (found nothing) and sent me downstairs for a mammogram. He said not to worry about it, but having already been struck by lightening once (OVC), how can…

Dancing with NED
I am officially in remission, per my gyn/oncologist. CT scan was normal. CA125 is 13. I start maintenance chemo (reduced dose of Taxol only, monthly infusions for one year) on the 24th. He sent me downstairs for a mammogram, since I have not had one in several years, but my breast and pelvic exams were normal. Carlene

Reporting in
I saw my gyn/onc today and my CA-125 was 162 not much higher than the end of Jan. at 158 so I thought that to be good news since I have not had chemo since Jan. 6th. I will get my second dose of Doxil Friday and he warned me that the CA-125 usually goes up for awhile on Doxil. He concurs that I should have this…

New research: it may be OK to get Nuelasta on chemo day instead of the day after
I get bulletins from CancerSTAT and an especially interesting article was in today's. It's such a pain to come back to a clinic to get your Nuelasta shot the day after chemo. This article suggests that it makes no difference if you gi ahead and get your Nuelasta shot on chemo infusion day to save yourself the extra trip.…

Fatigue during maintenance chemo
Hello Ladies, I have resumed maintenance chemo(taxol every 21 days for a year) after my bowel resection. They keep telling me it's no big deal, BUT I am totally exhausted. I did get a call last week after my labs, saying my iron count was 11. This resulted in a $600.00 bag of iron infusion! LOL I have read that sometimes…
