So I've been lurking here for quite a while reading many of your posts. Many have been very helpful. Thank you. Reason for finally posting is that I like many of you have allowed this to consume our lives. I was diagnosed with a 4CM stage 1 RCC on my left that was "encapsilated" and removed via radical on May 28th. it…

1 year anniversary - newby
Well it's been one year since my surgery tomorrow and I'm just now finding this site! I wish I would have found it before and during this past year. I have had two great CT scans and just had a colonoscopy. The results have all come back good! I still feel some discomfort inside the incision site so I'm anxious for that to…

PET results
Haven't "officially" gotten the discussion with my oncologist yet, but I did finagle a copy of the PET report from last Friday. The good news is that the spot on my thyroid did not show up at all. YAY! Also, the spot on the liver did NOT glow!!! Woot! what did show up is that apparently I have bright, glowing nodules in…

When Ned isn't Ned
So, the other week, I was at clinic getting my scan results. The urological oncologist gave good news that the scans showed no change. Yesterday, I received my scans in the mail, and read the results. From a big picture, things looked good, but there were several sub centermeter enlarged lymph nodes (in the lungs and…

RCC mets to lungs at almost 2 yrs post nephrectomy
I'm new to this site and here because I think the best place to gain information is from those who have gone through it, the person at hand is my amazing father who is,to say the least ,in total shock. He has been having 6 mon scans done since his football sized tumor was removed during a radical nephrectomy almost 2 years…

pathology report
Had my post-op pathology report today. The consultant told me my tumour was a metanephric adenoma, incredibly rare, and benign... Having been told that it was 98℅ likely to be rcc I was so surprised and thrilled, I think even the consultant was in shock. Thanks to everyone on here for your support, an invaluable help on…

Finished IL-2 treatments!
It's finally over. I'm home after completing my 4th round of IL-2. I'll say it again, "This has been the hardest thing I've EVER had to go through." All of my muscle has wasted away. I've lost the fluid retention and I'm nothing but wrinkles. The world of psychosis is someplace I never want to go to again. It has beat the…

Kidney lesion
A week ago, I was eating and started feeling bloated. It carried me through the week but wasn't having any other symptoms, just fullness in belly and burping. Got worse through the week and was down 11 pounds total in 8 days from not wanting to eat. Didn't have bowel trouble or anything else. I have now been to the dr…

Weird update on BLKJAK
So, last we updated, he was recommended to start chemo for collecting duct carcinoma and we had requested a pathology review from Mayo. Chest X-Ray vs CT Scan
How reliable are Chest X-Rays for spotting lung mets vs a CT Scan? My dr. seems concerned about the amount of radiation and wants to alternate between the two. My original tumor was small (2.5 cm) but already stage 3. (Got into the sinus fat). coming up on 18 months since surgery.

Lung Surgery Soon - Still Quietly Freaking Out
Hi Everybody, I saw the thoracic surgeon yesterday. He said that my lung nodule was in a bad spot. He said that it was on the right lobe, closer to the heart and where there are a lot of major blood vessels. He said that ordinarily they just make 3 cuts and wedge the nodule out. He said that in my case, they might have to…

I am happy to report nothing....
As in nothing growing inside of me; no evidence of disease. Maybe it is possible to beat sarcomitoid metastatic renal cell carcinoma. 50 or so more NED's and I am done: 6 quartly scans, 4 6 month scans, and then 40 annual scans will take me to 94.

Scans moved up 4 hours.
So instead of being at 2:45pm tomorrow, I get to start drinking that yummy stuff at 8:45am for the scans at 10:45am. I'm a little apprehensive about these, but hopefully they will turn out clear. If you can, please cross your fingers for me.

RCC and Vitamin D deficiency
Hey everyone! A few years back when I started to feel sick, the only thing that ever showed up in all 5 million of my blood tests was that I was severely Vitamin D deficient. My doctor had me on multiple rounds of 50,000 IU's of Vitamin D and nothing brought my levels up. It all makes sense now after my ChRCC diagnosis. I…

Your Test Results
Hi All..! OK, one thing occurred to me.. I think it is important that we all keep a good history of test results... I mostly mean blood tests. For me, my medical tests are all on line and can be viewed over time by each test. This way you can spot any trend if need be. In my case, my Onc spotted a trend in my red blood…

Legal Resource for People with Cancer
The talk I went to last night was given by a lawyer from the Cancer Legal Resource Center. They have a help line. I thought it might be nice to post the link to their website. They don't do litigation, but they help connect patients with legal resources and educate the public about legal issues related to cancer, rights,…
