Anyone dealing with Fibrosis?
I'm challenged with issues with the muscles and nerves in my neck. I was DX in March of 2012, (stage IV-a) treated with induction chemo, concurrent radiation and chemo and finally surgery, I've been NED for 5 years now and have some pretty substantial issues with my neck. Tight muscles, lack of flexibility and the feeling…

Dizzy much? Light headed? read on..
Apparently I have a little discussed, only recently found side effect of radiation. Its called Baroreceptor Dysfunction. You (we) have 2 Baroreptors, with 1 being on our carotids. These can be damaged (same as a thyroid) during radiation. So questions are, how does your blood pressure run? Do you get faint on standing, or…

Step Back To Spring Forward
Hey guys, well, it's time for another procedure adventure. It would appear that I am developing a bit of a suite tooth, so to speak. This time I was fix'in to get a dilation because my ability to swallow easily had diminished significantly over the past several months and was rapidly becoming more difficult; and by…

Slow progress
Greetings to all of you Cancer survivors for which I am one. I will try to shorten a very long story which is mostly positive with some setbacks. Radiation and Chemo finished July 2017 after neck surgery for stage 4 carcinoma which can be treated successfully if it hasn't metastasized. Mine hadn't and I have so far been…

6 Month NED
Hello. sorry I forgot to post this earlier. Had my 6 month post Proton beam rads treatment for right side tonsil and rifght lymph node SCC. My ENT said all looked great. Therabite
Thought I would start a new post since trismus came up as side effect from radiation and treatment. We ended up buying something called a Therabite to exercise the jaw and gradually get it to open wider. It cost a pretty penny and insurance did not cover it, but it has improved my husband’s ability to open his jaw wider…

Radiation side effect vocal cord paralysis
Well, I guess the other shoe has dropped. We are 3 years post treatment - chemoradiation for Stage 4 nasopharyngeal tumor. The cancer is gone but 3 years post treatment there is nerve damage from the radiation resulting in vocal cord paralysis. At first it was just one side but now the other side is becoming affected. It’s…

Temporary setbacks or forever symptoms?
I guess this never gets easier, does it? And I think I fooled myself a bit as well, thinking that normalcy was right around the bend. After breezing (that's a relative term, of course) through the treatments last spring, three months post I was starting to feel pretty good, then knock, knock, knock... oh, hello…

My Story of Cancer Therapy
My Story of Cancer Therapy & Recovery Summer of 2015 - I was my father's caregiver for a few months. During that time I did not get enough sleep. What I know now is that I became more vulnerable to cancer because I wasn't taking care of myself. Fall of 2015 – In October I notice a lump on the side of my neck that doesn’t…

11 Yrs. after Head Neck Cancer doing great
After reading many of the posts on this board I thought I would throw some white light on the issue of head neck cancer. I am a survivor. It has been 11 years and I am stronger than ever. I never had surgery or went through chemo as I thin they are poor options for this type of cancer. Instead I did hyperthermia and low…
