SECOND TIME AROUND RESULTS AND FEEDBACK
Looking for feedback from anyone who might have had a simillar recurrance and or same treatment. I have metastatic spread from SCC / right tonsil/ mets to lymph nodes in neck. The spread is to the lymph nodes in my Mediastynum (outside of lung) and several tumors in my right side of my lung. Doc's think it was probably…

Pet or CT???
Just wondering what the difference is between a PET or a CT w/contrast? I've always had a CT with contrast and never had a PET. My CA was vocal cord and seems like most of you are BOT so wonder which is the more comprehensive or why the difference, if anyone knows?? Should I ask for a PET scan?

I took a spoonful of almost everything...I skipped what I knew would be hot, but that left probably 35 dishes to choose from, and I took half that on the first round, and went back and got the rest on my second round :) . Had to share this...
Randy and I went away on vacation recently. The two young girls next door took care of our cat while we were gone. I gave them each some $$ for doing so. I saw them today and they thanked me for the money. They said they already knew what they were doing with it but didn't say what it was. A few minutes later, I asked them…

Insurance Co denied 6 month PET / Any suggestions?
Hey all ...looking for some ammo here (and opinions if anyone thinks it's fair or not fair, I want to be sure I am being reasonable). Here's my history in a nutshell. Oct 20, 2011 of head and chest reveals mass at base of tongue with mets to one lymph node Nov 6, 2011 biopsy on tongue, confirms SCC HPV+ Nov 16, 2011 PET…

I am not a text book case!
Hello friends! How have you all been? I have been doing really good. My ENT sent me to an Oncologist just because I am not the normal person they see with tongue cancer. I have never drank or smoked, I am not HPV positive, and I am 35 years old. He wanted him to be able to have it written down for studies. Oncologist then…

Ready, Set, GO!
Well, after a few obstacles(yes HPV, no HPV, yes HPV) & (stomach scope completed due to hot spot lit up on PET...doesn't appear to be anything, but took biopsies of stomach wall..waiting on results), we are looking to get this treatment started....MONDAY! My loved one was diagnosed with Stage III / IV, BOT SCC, 2 lymph…

PET -> Lung Cancer?
Today's PET showed new stuff in the lungs. 2 or 3 very small and hot specks. So I don't feel bad about vomiting in their machine (from the contrast). However, when I mentioned my recent pneumonia to the medical oncologist, he said recent pneumonia is a good sign in my case. In other words it could be pneumonia. My voice…

Don't like roller coasters!
Really, I am the one holding the jackets and getting food for my family in line. Getting back on the bus. 'c' has raised it's ugly head. The local neurologist only had the written report when she said scar tissue. I had the hard copy of the MRI for my doctor at Stanford. He looked and looked and finally said he did not…

rebuilding muscle mass & feeling my age
I've always been a pretty fit guy--avid hiker, ice skater/rollerblader, frisbee thrower... until the cancer beast robbed me of 40 lbs. and sapped my energy to get off my ****. I lost so much muscle mass (and fat), sitting on a hard chair hurt my bony butt. now that I've started to gain back some of the lost weight, it's…

Cataract as promised
Had my cataract removed yesterday and I would be a liar if I said I wasn't worried/stressed going in. Not for a fear of the surgery rather the thought of someone messing with my eyes gave me the heebie jeebies..I should have taken a Xanax :>). The entire process lasted less than 10 minutes and I can't believe the positive…

Am I a candidate for Cyberknife?
Had SCC in 2006,left tonsil, radiation only, had SCC again this year on opposite side of neck, radiation and chemo, now, lucky me, I have developed "pre-cancerous lesions" back on my 2006 side, if this develops into cancer, can I have it treated with Cyberknife even though I have been radiated on both sides of neck? Thanks…

It DOES Get Better
This is my first post in a while, but I've still be visiting and checking in on folks. I don't have a good answer for why I didn't post anything for the past month or so. Sure, I've been busy but that didn't stop me before. I think part of it is that I've been figuring out what it means to be out of treatment, and how you…

Doctors and more doctors
Well we went to see David's ENT today and was told everything is healing well and that he expected David would be able to drink by mouth again within the next couple of weeks. He had a swallow test today and he is still aspirating some of the liquid so they want him to stay with tube feeds only. He tried to talk the doctor…

3 down 1 to go
Well thank you all for your prayers and well wishes on my CT scan. Onc doc and Rad Doc as well as the Radiologist who reviewed the scan says all looks great, Rad Doc was willing to say NED. However I still need to see my ENT on the 15th October/ she hopefully will concur with the other Docs. She will look at a spot on my…

Extracapsular spread
My husband had one lymph node with extracapsular spread so therefore, wil be receiving chemo with radiation. Question is, does anyone else on this site have experience with the extracapsular spread. Of course, I am worrying myself sick about this as a prognostic factor. Thinking if only we would have know a little sooner…

Sorry seems to be the hardest word
Just found out last evening, the wonderful, kind woman that was my roommate at The James, passed on July 17,2012. Susie and I became so close and promised each other to keep in touch after we both were up to it, we spoke on the phone and she was in a nursing home in Northern Ohio....I, at the time, had a whisper of a…

Im desperate for your input
Hi all, just finished round three of chemo and my biggest battle has been taste. Ever taste terrible, have to eat things that slide down to avoid chewing and the nasty taste. I would like to know your experiences as far as taste returning to normal. Does it get worse with the rads and if so do return to normal after TX and…

Golden Nuggets ~ Tampa Bay Pompano
I had some free time Sunday morning to hit a spot I haven't fished for awhile... The target was Pompano, known in Florida as Golden Nuggets, because of the Golden Yellow color they turn when you catch them...plus the excellent table fare when prepared. I was in luck, I caught my limit of six within a few hours. The lure…

Rapid weight gain post-treatment
Hey guys, I just got back from seeing my chemo-therapist. Looks like we got it all. I'm almost a year post-treatment and I'm picking up weight FAST. Sounds good until you consider the fact that I'm not eating enough to put on THIS much weight (this rapidly, anyway). The doc says the treatments may have affected my thyroid…

Biopsy results
Got the call from my oncologist in Hershey today with the results of the biopsy I had last Tuesday. He said the biopsy came back as inconclusive. He said he did not believe it was from my larynx and, in fact does not know if it is a cancer. Ground glass opacity nodules can do this. He said we can wait and do another scan…

Well Things are progressing for me this week, I have had 2 radiations, and my induction of Erbitex. So far so good, feeling a little aches and pains, and a bit run down, but not bad overall. Hope everyone else is doing good.... Jim

Post treatment scans
My husband will be starting chemo and radiation next week. He will be having one side of neck radiated and will be receiving Cisplatin x 3 doses. He had BOT laser surgery 8 weeks ago and a right side selective neck dissection with 3 positive lymph nodes, one with extracapsular extension. Three weeks ago he had lymph nodes…

PET scan today - so so results.....
I had my three month follow up PET today (SCC BOT, HPV+, Stage IVa) treated with one course of induction chemo and then with 8 weeks of erbitux and 33 rads. I expected very good news as the ENT that originally diagnosed me had scoped my throat twice and saw no visual evidence of the original tumor, and neither the medical…

HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP
Hi everyone, I am a member of this web site, and have lung cancer, I'm normally on the lung forum so I don't visit this forum that often. I'm hoping someone can help to maybe answer some questions about this type of cancer. My husband discovered a dark spot on the roof of his mouth this morning, he says it is sore to the…
