Five CT scans later no cancer has re-occured. Numerous side effects persist, most likely till my death. Still waiting to recover my detection of sweet.…

2 year scan results
Howdy Kids! Just a quickie to say I had an all-clear/NED report last week on my 2 year post tx scan. For some reason no scanxiety at all on this one. Have a few side issues like being a smart arse and can’t keep the fish outta the boat (oh wait a minute those probably aren’t due to chemo or rads). Seriously, doing great,…

Break Time
Heading out in the AM on the big Cat(150')out of Ft Myers Beach to Key West. We did this several years ago when the boat was a V hull piece of junk, smaller and very old, so hopefully with a newer boat it will be a good trip. I do love Key West. Ft Myers Beach has a lot of found memories for my wife and I. We lived very…

Is it possible to have almost no side effects of tongue radiation?
Hi Everyone, I am so glad to find this site. Everyone is so helpful and inspiring. I have been reading lot of things for past two days. Are you interested in joining a facebook group?
I have seen some head and neck facebook groups but they have not really worked for me. I would be happy to set up a group for those who are interested. The chat feature (for me at least) is easier to use on facebook than on CSN. For me, facebook is a nice supplement to CSN (and helps with my scrabble addiction) What is the…

Introduction and hello
I've been lurking on this board for a couple weeks, and finally decided to come out and say hello. :-) I was diagnosed in late March with oropharangeal SCC that is strongly positive for HPV-16. I was really glad to hear the HPV status, since I know that means it's more likely to respond well to treatment. My treatment plan…

12th day of fever
We went to the hospital Friday night to see if we can find the source of the fever. Of course, they did blood work and chest xray and found no source of the fever. They tried to get in touch with his GP and no answer. They sent us home and told us to follow up with GP on Monday. So, that is what we will be doing. This…

My PEG tube lightened up it's need to torture me in the afternoon (what a difference a few hours make)...It was sunny and warm for here (some sun and 60 degrees), the grass is greening up, some of the trees are starting to bud out, the air smelled like spring! Home Health stopped…

Posting pictures
I'd like to thank Ingrid K for telling me how to post pictures, so I can kind of express myself and show off a little bit of my semi-kinda-sorta-hobby. To post a picture you will have to go into your Update member area, which you can do easily by hitting the "click me" words at the top of the screen next to create or…

Neck Dissection Monday
So I will be a little lighter by Tuesday, less a load of neck tissue and nodes, one tonsil and a chunk of the base of my tongue. I know many on here have had dissections, I know it's going to hurt for a couple of weeks, but honestly - bring it on! This is the first major step on the road to recovery after diagnosis and if…

phone ap for mouth cancer
Apparently "they" are working on a phone ap for the detection of mouth cancer. I saw this on the local DFW news a few minutes age. Something about taking a photo and sending it to your dentist?? In development. So, cell phones can help detect mouth cancer while giving you brain cancer? Just kidding about the brain C.
