severe diarhea
My husband, who has stage 4 colon cancer with met to the liver, is currently in the hospital for severe diarhea due to Xeloda. Anyone else have something like this? Any suggestions? He is coming home in two days with IVs and will have to delay his last two chemo sessions (3 weeks each).

SGPT/SGOT levels while on chemo--dilemma
How high were your levels while on chemo? Mine rose a bit after my 2nd, my onc labels it an insignificant elevation, saying its a natural occurrence when one is on chemo. For the record, I did 7 cycles of chemo last year, 2 cycles of xeloda and avastin, had a lung recurrence and have now finished my 3rd round despite my…

Elevated CA72-4 tumor marker
About a month ago, my wife had a panel of serum tumor markers tested in Europe. The reason why she did it is to serve as a "negative" control for her mother (who is currently a 3-year cancer survivor). However, we unexpectedly found that my wife's CA72-4 level was elevated to 24 and to 16U/ml (analysis done in different…

Opinions please on my liver result
This is verbatim what's on the report regarding my liver. I'm taking this as a good sign that there isn't a tumour in my liver as they've been unsure if there was due to Internal scarring making the ct scans hard to read. Please tell me how you'd take this. It's given me hope that there isn't one there but maybe I'm…

Fistulas & surgery, a little graphic
Once again I've ended up with an uncommon side effect that few people seem to get. How did I get so lucky? So, for the past year, since the sepsis, I've never really felt right. Nausea to varying degrees every single day. Weak, no stamina, just feeling miserable. I was beating myself up mentally for it. Thinking maybe I'd…

Terrified
Hello all~ In 2013, I had a colon resection for a cancerous tumor and had 9 lymph nodes removed. One of those was infected so I did 6 months of Xeloda. Tried Oxaliplatin but had a bad reaction after the first infusion so just stayed with the Xeloda pills. Since then, Ive had ct with contrast, blood tests and colonoscopies…

Is Ablation considered a surgery that can "cure"
I feel like a lightbulb just went off. When oncologists say only liver surgery has the potential to be a "cure", does that include ablation? I think until this moment, I was thinking of it as just a quicker way to shrink the tumor than chemo, but if it has the potential to mean a longer, healthier life, I think I have to…

The CRC breakup? http://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/19/9/2577/htm Colon cancer (CC) and rectal cancer (RC) are synonymously called colorectal cancer (CRC). Based on our experience in basic and clinical research as well as routine work in the field, the term CRC should be abandoned. . . we conclude that CC is not the same as RC.…

I am sure this happens a lot
Hello! I have a child with different medical needs so I am well versed in how medical message boards work, and I hate to be that person who doesn't have a diagnosis and is panicked, yet here I am! I am going in for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy next week. I am absolutely frightened. I can't even think straight. I know the…

Hurricane Florence
Please take a moment to offer prayers, good thoughts or whatever your preference, to those who will be impacted by hurricane Florence. Given its size ( about 200 miles wide) and the probability of widespread prolonged rains over several states causing major flooding, it is nearly impossible to escape its effects if you are…

Why the liver?
Liver metasteses are a frequently discussed topic on this forum. My surgeon says if I have a recurrence it is about a 66% chance it will be in the liver. I found this recent abstract (I cannot get the full article) both troubling and interesting:…

Can't find cancer
An oncologist says I have colin cancer but I do not have a colin and they have done all kinds of tests and all of them were negative. This doctor is a narcissist and will not accept that he may be wrong. They say I have a spot on my lung from this but I had a colapsed lung and it may be scar tissue from that. What do you…

Paranoia
Okay so I guess most, if not all of us, are quite paranoid whenever a single ache, pain, or any irregularity happens in a certain body part and we fear that the cancer has spread there. Recently I sometimes experience shortness of breath which is I know a symptom of a lung met. My last scan was May 31, around 4 months ago,…

Maintenance Chemo Pills
