Had leucovorin,5-fu, oxaliplatin and neulasta every two weeks for 12 cycles. Finished chemo in Feb. March ct scan came back clear. I was hoping (silly me) that I could get back to my…

It's been decided I have intermittent bowel obstruction, trust me, you don't want this, only thing that touches the pain is dilalud. So far I've lost 8 pounds (not bad after losing 14…

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. My husband has had a colonscopy where they found a mass. Then, the pathology report confirming that it was cancer. I've been taking care of calls with the insurance company, schedulers, etc., so everything is in place for his tests tomorrow -- a CT scan and MRIs. He's got to the tests.…

My husband ended up in the ED Saturday night with belly pain and vomiting. He'd had his 4th Folfiri last Wednesday and usually feels pretty wiped out on the weekend. They did a ct scan around 3 am and saw a bowel obstruction but when oncologist in group came up to his room yesterday am he said the lymph nodes were…

where's my Mommy?
It's Mother's Day today...and I'm so sad...this isn't how it's supposed to be. Each night I put my head to my pillow I try to tell myself I'm strong because I've gone one more day without my Mom....and today I just sit and wonder...why? There are moments in our life when we look back to the past, look ahead of the future,…

Why do bad things happen to good people?
I find my faith in God fading. People who are doing what they are supposed to do (being productive on life) are in so much pain. I am angry at God for failing them and my family.

Glucose restriction to starve cancer - an update
when my wife Patricia was ill I had learned of evidence which strongly suggested that dramatic reductiion in glucose levels could starve cancer cells which rely more heavily on glucose than most normal cells (which is why your cancer lights up on a PET scan - the radiaoctive glucose which you take is taken up…

Anyone heard of physiatry? UPDATED
NOT psychiatry, altho I am sure I need that as well. Since my not-so-great visits with the GP, this is the specialist they think I should see. Apparently they deal with chronic conditions relating to illness or injury. So I'm just curious if anyone has had any experience with this field of medicine.

Dad's Surgery Appointment
So he went to see the surgeon today. Rated the best in the area and I get why. He feels that the oncologist has not provided enough information to cut him open. He wants all the facts and feels the PET scan isn't telling the whole story. Therefore, he wants a colonoscopy and in three months a new PET scan. Once he has…

A Mother's Proud Moment
To my virtual cc family, My youngest daughter will graduate from College with highest honors on Saturday. When I was dx'ed 2.5 years ago with stage 3b/signet cell colon cancer - I thought I would not see this day. I am so proud, grateful and in awe I could just burst! Sad man rambling
I just re-read several of my emails on CSN. I really didn't email many people directly. The two I most often communicated with were joemetz and tachilders. They were both my age and geographically close to where I live. They both had larger families like myself. We were hoping to meet f2f (as I read in our emails). Both…

Another Y90 update
Sorry to bring this up again, but I have searched the board for Y90 and the topic doesn't seem to be discussed that often. I decided to go down the path of the Y90 procedure, mostly because I am tired of chemo and the most recent mix-erbitux and irenotecan, was not working for me. I am scheduled to have the beads placed in…

Anyone Else HNPCC
Hi, I was hoping to find someone else with HNPCC (hereditary non polyposis colon cancer). Well, that sounds horrible; I hope no one else has it..but I would like someone to talk to about recurrance since we have such a high rate..over 80 percent. We also have the same risk for uterine, ovarian, and so forth... I was just…

Joemetz has passed away
Joe passed away today. I got to meet this man in person at his place of business in Toledo, Ohio. He was just as go-getter, effusive and lovely a person as one would like to meet. He was a fighter, a giver of time, and I'll miss him dearly. My condolences to his wonderful family. Winter Marie

FOLFIRI (Update)
Greetings to my Friends on CSN, Last scan showed invasion of healthy half of liver at multiple locations, and the left is reinfected as well. To make things more interesting there is a strange rash at the incision site which seems to be spreading. Onc told nurse to get referral to dermatology, no luck with that yet. Oh…

Needing answers to my sister's cancer and surgery
In December my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had moved to her liver. She did 3 months of chemo to shrink the tumors. The doctor said on a scale of 1-10 she had done so well hers was like a 12 and her tumors had shrunk enough to have surgery. She had 3 spots on her liver and they were hoping to do both…
