I've started chemo with my 2nd cycle beginning on this coming Wednesday (4/17). I've been told that I will be on chemo "until I ask" to be taken off. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there…

In the hospital AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
(Needing to vent...) So as of Monday when I started FUDR. It has been absolute helllllll! I'm so angry because they told me I would have very "MINIMAL" side effects. Soooooo not the case. I guess its's because everyone is different, but I've had severe, severe, severe nausea, vomiting, excrutiating bone and joint pain, and…

Ileostomy fears
I've been posting on this forum for my mom, who is 57 years old and has stage IV cancer and was diagnosed in February. She just got amazing news from the oncologist this week after her cat-scan - her liver tumors have shrunk dramatically, and are now controllable, while her lung tumors are completely gone. Due to high…

Sigmoid Colon Cancer Symptoms
Hi, it may be inappropriate for me to join this forum since I am not a cancer patient but I have a question for those experienced with Sigmoid Colon Cancer. What were your typical most common symptoms? What types of symptoms prompted you to visit a physician? Many websites state by the time symptoms surface, the cancer is…

Stopping chemo
Told my husband I don't want to do chemo anymore. I'm canceling my Monday appointment. I just think outs time. My cancer is too wide spread and there is no chance at remission. I think it's time me and my family move on.

Stable is a good word
At the end of the 12th cycle of the trial drug TRC 105 with avastin, the CT showed no growth in the large liver tumor and a .2cm shrinkage in the smaller one. Other "multiple" hepatic lesions continue to show signs of central necrosis (DIE, you %#!@#), and CEA is down to 2.1. No new metastisis appreciated. Happy dance!…

Update On Hubby
It has been decided that hubby has Sepsis, possibly from chemo port, but not sure so he's receiving broad range antibiotics. He is feeling a little better and coherent. 2 litres of fluid was drained from his abdomen today. He was allowed tiny sips of water, but chokes, so mostly mouth swabs. Because his mouth is dry, he…

Diagnosed One Year Ago Today 4/11/2012
Hi everyone - It has been 1 year since I had my colonoscopy and dreadful rectal cancer diagnosis. It seems like just yesterday. New Therapy Shows Promise - Hope This Hasn't Been Reported Before and Thus Isn't a Bore
Just read the article at the link below that I got notice of in an email. As I said in the title, I hope I'm not breaking "old news" and therefore you all don't find this boring. If so, I apologize in advance for wasting your time. On a side note, can anyone comprehensively explain the trials process while attaching a time…

CAM: TCM
Hi there, I am very interested in looking into Traditional Chinese Medicine to complement my mom's conventional treatment. She is currently having a good response to xeloda, which we are supplementing with a variety of things (diet, exercise, high dose Vitamin D, celebrex, juicing, flax, grapeseed, L-Glutamine, fish oil,…

Update on slow progress
Am six months post hemipelvectomy and pelvic clearance for my recurrence of rectal cancer and so thought I would update progress. I have my first prosthetic following a stay in a specialist unit in London and am finding it less cumbersome and clumsy than I thought. It is still slower than crutches and I still use sticks on…

Brenda Bricco ... how are you?
The last time you posted you were having a difficult time. I am sure you have worked things out with Craig as I see he posted a very kind apology for his part in the confusion. Many here were concerned for you and offered support, especially with regard to the DNR bracelet you mentioned was given to your husband. Please…

Foot pain
When I was in the hospital, the woman next to me mentioned foot pain along the outer portion of her foot and heel. She said hers was gone after her surgery and she wondered if that was a sign of cancer. I also had foot pain so bad over the past few years that sometimes I couldn't stand. I thought it was the width of my…

Good news, bad news
The good news is that the result of the test is back and I am a candidate for Temozolomide (= Temodar = TMZ). That doesn't mean it's going to "work" -- but the test identifies those for whom it will NOT work. As some of you know, I actually had one cycle already, while I was waiting for the results. I didn't want to be on…

For everyone who read my introduction post. My husband had been diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer at 35. They explained how this…
