SO Relieved I'm not the only one!
Hello Everyone! I've just joined this site Nov 4th, and I'm SO relieved to find so many others having the same issues! Which are: Muscle Pain in hips, groin, shoulders, and back but only when I move and use these muscles. If I'm sitting, not moving, I only have pain in my left bicep. I spend an enormous amount of time on…

Uninsured
I have been so disappointed the last two days. I was due to go in for my bloodwork and to see my onc for my 3 month visit. After the usual screaming match, over the money needed for these visits, I have decided to never ask my husband to make another medical bill payment on my behalf. I have canceled the appointments…

Veterans Day
We owe so much to those that have sacrificed so much to allow us to enjoy "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". I'd like to dedicate this thread to honoring our Veterans today. Feel free to post your service, or the service of a loved one. Personally, I flew a desk in the Air Force, in the exotic land known as…

I'm a ball of nerves
Monday is the big surgery day and I'm nervous. Doctor said that the tumor did shrink but we are still going for the colostomy it would be for the best. I had the markings done yesterday. About to eat a meal before doing the all clear liquids tomorrow. Please pray for me and my family as we travel into this unknown area of…

macular degeneration from chemo- any one else?
Hi, It has been awhile since I have posted about my Mom. Recap- she is 5 years post CRC re-section and chemo. CT scan this past month showed another year all clear which we are oh so thankful. It seems that she continues to have one thing after another showing up from the chemo. She has been having trouble with her vision…

CT Scan results - more good news
My ctscan 5 months after my lung met was diagnosed (and subsequently surgically removed)from the previous scan was clear - yeah! I was very worried especially when the oncologist didn't call within 48 hours. He finally called me Friday night - he's actually a gem. More good news - I can wait another 6 months until next…

Last Call re: Christmas/holiday card list
This is the last call for additions, changes or deletions to the list. You can notify me either at CSN Email on this site or at csncardmail@yahoo.com. I had originally set Nov. 16 as the deadline, but would like to move it up to Monday Nov. 12 as it will take some time to get the list sent to so many participants.…

Questions about secondary treatments
When I was 26 (April 2011) I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer that had spread to the liver. I started with Folfox and that worked well until my body developed an allergy to oxaliplatin. Then I switched to Folfiri with Avastin and that didn't work at all. Then I had surgery - I had my colon removed (I have a…

Surgery on Monday
Must be losing my mind or I've posted this before and forgot, but I'm going in on Monday for hernia repair (3 I'm thinking) and abdominal repair (not sure what it's called), but I'll be bringing my laptop and I'll keep you posted. For all of you going to surgery and others going for scans and tests my prayers are with you.…

Australian Scientists using new targeted therapy to kill cancer cells
Pete, why are you in Germany? They're trying this new cancer therapy in Australia! LOL. Sounds promising, it's supposed to spare the healthy cells, they take and grow mini cells and fill them with chemotherapy drugs and they are programed to head directly to the tumor, testing so far shows it's safe and doesn't have the…

"Could a Puff a Day - Keep the Cancer at Bay?"
"High" or Hello With Colorado and Washington ‘legalizing’ marijuana, there have been many articles proliferating the internet discussing its merits. What’s really interesting is that both of these states approached it from the “Recreational” angle, instead of the “Medicinal” avenue, whose dispensaries reside in some of the…

Autonomy vs. Auto, not me
A year ago I'd bought an older model RV with the intention of traveling the country in between treatments. That's just not feasible anymore, so I'm going to sell it. What I'm debating now is if I should buy a car or not. Currently, a bit more than half of the time I'm just not fit to drive because of the chemo so I have to…

Soursop Tea
I live in South Florida and have recently been encouraged by many people to drink tea made from the leaves of the Soursop tree. I did some online research and it promoted as having better results on cancer cells than chemo. Several sites all said the same thing as well as many people I have been talking to. Its hard to get…

"The BAG"
I recently read something on here about being a "clean person" vs someone who has "a bag." It has stuck in my craw and I want to respond to that line of thinking. I am a clean person, too. And I am an RN, was the ostomy nurse for the home health/hospice agency I worked for for years. And I am the mother of a 33-year-old…

To End a Friendship or Not
Good morning, everyone... Dealing with cancer is hard, the physical toll as well as the emotional toll it takes on us is extreme. I try to stay as positive as possible about staying on this earth for a long time and fighting every step of the way to make that happen. My goal and focus is on my living. I get enough reality…

Chemo and Immune System Question
This may sound really dumb but I don't understand how chemo and the our immune systems work in the sense that they seem to be fighting each other not working together. Chemo knocks down our white blood cells which are supposed to kill the cancer; right? How does that help? Won't that just make us worse? I know the chemo is…
