Good CT!!!
The last CT was declared clear with NED. The oncologist wants to do 4 more rounds of chemo and then scan again. He said if that scan is clear we will stop chemo and go with scans for a while to identify and new recurrences. The point of the chemo holiday is to let my body regenerate so in the event of a recurrence there…

D@mned if we do, d@mned if we don't
We were given 2 options today concerning Roberts port. Neither of which is an option that bodes well. 1. Stop all treament at the end of the month, wait 3 weeks, fix the port issue, and wait three more weeks before starting the trial all over again. This means no treatment for 6 weeks and given Robert's history of…

A New Journey Has Begun
I live in Australia and just wanted to introduce myself and write about my cancer diagnosis and treatment. I had a colonoscopy in February 2012 which discovered a large polyp. The polyp was removed during the colonoscopy and biopsy results revealed that it was malignent and I was referred to a colorectal surgeon. It was…

Another Brick in The Wall Pt. 2
Ok here's another "anyone else ever get this" situation. After infusion the past several times and while on the pump I get terrible hiccups. They get so bad that I start bringing stuff up from my stomach. It's like hiccups and acid reflux combined. My usual remedy is a large spoonful of peanut butter, but that doesn't even…

Amazing Journey
Just a week ago, my right side was giving me bad pain, my feet hurt so bad that I had to use two canes and even then had to try to walk on the instep of the foot as much as possible, and my BMs burned something fierce. After they "done did ripped my guts out" on Saturday morning all of those symptoms have disappeared. My…

How to never get that nurse again, and do it without hurting her feelings? **UPDATE** had the talk
***UPDATE: So I listened to you all and today was the new infusion open house day, so I went just before they closed and there was one oncology nurse (known her since I've been going there) and the receptionist, so I asked the nurse how do I go about NOT getting a particular nurse again, she said to just tell her and they…

My Turn To Bitc#
Hello All, Well, has everyone received their insurance enrollment for next year? I did, and even called the company to verify the horrible news. The premium has more than doubled. And I discovered, which I should have realized before, that when I turn 70, the supplemental life insurance is no more. I told the customer rep…

Avastin & Xeloda - Anyone On This?
Well gang... my platelets just won't cooperate. Was only able to get chemo once every 4 weeks so the ONC put a halt to the folfiri. If my platelets are fine on Monday, I will start Avastin only plus Xeloda. Its not as strong but ONC feels not as strong is better than none at all. Has anyone been on Avastin and Xeloda only?…

Dear Friends, It occurs to me that there may be many of you who either don't have the health, time or financial resouces to do postal mailings. So I am looking for suggestions for electronic alternatives. I know that the CSN site is often slow and we might overload it for sure if we were to try to use it in that way. It…

post surgery chemo-yes or no??
Hi all - I've been battling colon cancer for over 5 years now, had my first surgery in 2005 to remove tumors which had metastized to my ovaries and omentum followed by 12 rounds of FOLFOX. After a year, some tumors showed up in a bit of omentum that was not removed originally and I had HIPEC surgery to remove them along…

Well, maybe I should have gone to Monaco! As all y'all know, I had my appendix taken out today. The pain I'd had last weekend turned out to be acute appendicitis, which they found on yesterdays CT scan. My onc called at 4 in the afternoon and wanted to see me ASAP to get examined and to speed up the hospital check. The…

Hi mates need your experiences on that!
I'm very fine with my cancer , chemo is working successfully and levels are near normality, but not completely yet! My main concern is that my liver enzymes are fine but bilirrubine have rise to 2.4! Christmas/Holiday card list tradition/Update: Currently who is on list
Dear Friends, Tootsie1 posted asking about the Christmas/Holiday card list this year. It has been a bit of a tradition in years past. I have offered to pull it together if there is interest. I will be using the list from last year as a starting point, so if you were on that list and prefer not to be on it this year let me…

Christmas
Hi, guys. I've been rather absent lately, so I may be behind the time in asking about this. Has anyone talked about Christmas/holiday cards this year? Do we want to do that? I would have to say that I so crazy busy that I wouldn't have time to compile the list myself, but if there is one, I would love to have it. *hugs*…

Thought I'd share today's events...
Today I had surgery to relieve the severe pain/pressure that resulted from my recent double-lumpectomy (2 weeks ago). Because I was requiring daily aspirations of fluid, and still in extreme pain, my surgeon re-opened the incision, drained and irrigated both areas, and placed drains. Of note, I had an attractive, young…

11 year rectal cancer survivor. multiple trips to bathroom daily. looking for solutions via food &
My husband had chemo, radiation & surgery in 2001. His intestines are often blocked or just the opposite. He takes mineral oil or Imodium depending on the situation. When he has too many trips to the bathroom in a day, the pain sets in. The pills he takes for the pain ease that problem, but cause others. I'm looking for an…
