Father starting FOLFOX next week
Hello everyone. I am new to the board. My Dad, who is 56 years old, was diagnosed in October of last year with Stage 2B colon cancer. He had been having symptoms for a very long time, and had put off getting a colonoscopy for years. Finally, the symptoms got so bad that he could no longer ignore them. By the time he had…

Did any of you have the following: ►Nausea - a lot like morning sickness - worse in the AM and popping up here and there throughout the day - but also worse with…

Update after oncology appointment
So those of you that have been around for a while might remember my crazy request to pray for pancreatitis. I am asking again, just as I did in May 2010 (that time I did have it). It is a slight chance. I'd much rather deal with that than cancer progression. I'm not really that crazy! ;) Updates on my CaringBridge tonight.…

I had a scare
My CEA jumped from 4.2 in April to 5.2 in July. My previous high had been 4.6 so I thought my cancer had come back. I just had another CEA and it dropped to 5.0 so I guess I am OK. My doctor has cancelled the Sept. CEA and I am back on quarterly CEA testing. I have gone over 3.5 years NED. I have a question for the Board.…

The Sundance Channel: “The Funeral”
Well, the funeral was held at the funeral home itself, in the same room as the visitation was – as I said before, it is a very small place. My family and I drove up and headed inside to look for a seat. Kim was at the end of her row for her ankle and sitting next to her sister. My niece had saved me a seat next to her at…

Stage IV Colon Cancer Questions
I was just dx with Stage IV colon cancer. I had a rare form of appendix cancer in 2003. It was the Goblet Cell Cacinoid. At that time, the oncologist felt they got all the cancer and did not do anything further. Now I have the same cancer which has invaded my colon, intestines and stomach. After what the doctor thought was…

Signet ring adenocarcinoma...anyone else have it?
I had my appointment with my oncologist to where he told me that my cancer is a "variant" (his words) of colon cancer. I have looked it up and found statistics showing that it is very rare...less than 1% of colon cancers. The prognosis isn't good...but then the only informlmation i have found is old. I am thinking that i…

Cycle 2, Day 1 Clinical trial TRC 105
Saw head doc today, in charge of the trial...So far everything looks good. Blood work is a bit low in areas, but stable. Best news yet, CEA down from 14.4 to 12.3. YESSSSS! It had been steadily rising since May, like every week. Scan scheduled for Aug 22 and that's when we will know the whole story. Side effects have been…

The Sundance Channel: “The Visitation”
We were all pretty tired about five-hours later when we had to get back up. It felt like a hangover minus the alcohol. Standing in the doorway wondering which bad wolf was sleeping in her sister’s bed was my little grandniece, whom I had not yet met, with this very inquisitive look on her little face. They said, “That’s…
