Headache
Tuesday morning at 4:00 I had to wake up my husband to take me to the emergency room. My head was hurting so bad I felt like I had to hold it on my neck. I had a CT scan and some good pain meds and was sent home. The doctor in the Er told me to follow up with my Primary Doc. Today I called my oncologist because I still had…

CT scan shows spot...scared
Hi, I've been on this site before, but not for a while. I've always found this to be a comforting community. I had a 3 month follow up appt. today (last chemo was one year ago). My CT scan shows a small spot in my rectum. I'm now going to be scheduled for a PET scan and a rectal ultrasound. The original dx was rectal…

second trip with Folfox and not liking it one bit
HI I am just finishing up my first round of folfox for the second time. I was DX in 06 and had 4 months of folfox in 07. Was clear until 08 then went on Folfiri. Clear for most of 09 but now back on Folfox. I don't know if I just don't remember it being so hard or it's just gotten harder on me, but I'm sick most the time.…

My oncologist - Full of good news today (NOT)
My oncologist told me that I am probably in remission ( Good news ) but that the cancer will return (bad news) and that maintenance chemo will improve the length of remission but not the overall survival time because I could die from a myriad of other complications due to a compromised immune system or damage from the…

KRAS Gene & Erbitux - questions
Hi everyone! So, we are here for treatment number 10 today. They stopped the oxi - he had a reaction last time (hives, nausea), and his fingertips stayed numb this time. Brian saw the onc and she said he does not have the kras gene, it was a good thing, and that down the road they may use erbitux. Couple questions again:…

JohnSFO is a colostomate
Hey Gang, The surgery went really well, although it took a long time (nearly 5 hours). We were really happy with the surgeon who did it as well as the rest of the team. They were going to see if it might have been possible to remove some of the tumor (which we had been told was inoperable), but once they got in there they…

A year ago today, at the age of 38, I awoke from my emergency colonoscopy to find out I had colorectal cancer. A few days later, after a PET scan, we found out it was in the liver also. I have gone through chemo and radiation, 2 major surgeries; APR with a colostomy and a liver resection and another round of chemo. I was…

Calling all people who are on maintenance with Avastin
Hi, I have 5 more treatments on Folfox and 5FU remaining. So far I am responding well, considering I am dx as Stage IV. My doctor told me today that after these treatments, we will do a follow-up CT scan and I will more than likely go on "maintenance" with Avastin. Can anyone doing this now give me an idea of how frequent…

my PET scan results
Well, my PET scan results are kind of what I was expecting- not great, but could have been worse, I guess. My "multiple pulmonary nodules" are stable in size, but their uptake (metabolic activity) has become more intense in all nodules. I also now have a new liver tumor along the edge of where my liver resection was.…

PET/CT results today.....Drumroll.....NED!.... NED!.....NED!
Pinch me.. I think I'm dreaming!!! I was floored when the onc said "well, according to scan results... you have NO cancer left in your body...anywhere!" WHAT?...WHAT? Shut-up! no.. he was serious. He said that 2 tiny tiny spots showed up in the lungs but did not light up and were read as dead tissue being dissolved by my…

lumbosacral plexopathy - Did anyone else get this
I am a stage 4 guy. It got my rectum, one node and my liver. They killed off 1/2 of my liver with chemo last year and last PET in August showed clear as did one in Feb. Get another CT tomorrow. From the chemo/radiation on the node, I got lumbosacral plexopathy. It only happens to 1 out of 300 that get chemo/radiation. It…

2 stage liver resection
We had a consultation with a liver surgeon at UVA who feels my husband is a candidate for a 2 staged liver resection since he has tumors on both sides of his liver. I am grateful we are able to be considering this option since he wasn't considered a candidate for surgery before he started chemo (he had 6 rounds of FOLFOX…

Back from Doctor
Hi All: Went to the doctor this morning and he wasn't really at all concerned with the amount of blood that I am having. He said that I am going so frequently and this has probably caused some bleeding from the lining inside the rectal area. I feel so much better. He said first of all I need to control the frequency so I'm…

OMG Is this good news? I think it is….
My Oncologist is one smart man and I just love him to death. He’s been doing this for almost 30 years and he specializes in Colorectal cancers. He’s the head of a lot of studies and fly’s around from state to state. So he knows his **** “So to speak“ LOL. Yesterday when I seen him he wanted me to do some things with my…

I just want to thank all of the people who post and reply to all the people on this site. But, I have a question. What do all of you do to combate the lonliness? Sometimes I feel so all alone I can't stand it anymore. I come here and read the posts and chat some but it just doesn't seem to be enough.

Just Sittin' Here Alone at Home - Missing You and Thinkin' of You Tonight
Good evening, Everybody This is rather impromptu but as sometimes happens, emotions got the best of me and I decided to reach out to you this evening for a "touch." I'm not one for bearing my weaknesses too much but I was feeling particularly lonely this evening - cold weather has settled into Texas, the house is dark and…
