I'm a caregiver, my fiancee is a survivor, and a patient and his prognosis is good. We are in Watch
I'm having a hard time right now. My fiancee is a 10 year testicular cancer survivor, and is in remission from lung cancer (ok not really remission, but he has no heath insurance and the indigent care at the hospital says watch and wait until it becomes life threatening again and then we'll look at more treatment.) We…

Hi all,
Although I've been posting on the esophageal site here for months, I have not ventured into the caregiver site until today. I guess I've just been so busy trying to 'fix' my husband, that I've forgotten about myself. But, alas, here I am. Let me introduce myself. My name is Chantal and my husband is Lee. He was diagnosed…

activities
Hi all - my mom has late stage primary liver cancer. There's not a whole lot she's able to do...she has problems with her eyes and can't focus to read. She sleeps most of the time, and when she's awake is incredibly fatigued so moving around isn't an option. She has tremors and such so anything requiring fine motor skills…

He is dying now
My Ric has maybe another day in this world. I am so broken inside. I'm trying to remember the good times, but he blames me for "poisoning him" and "Killing him". Hospice says it's the tumors in his brain talking to me, but I can't completely believe them. I got him to do Chemo, so by that respect, I DID poison him. In…

Violent Delusions?
My husband has become convinced over the last week that I am "trying to poison" him and that I am "the Antichrist". Giving him his medications (Ativan, Morphine, Dilauded, Prednisone, and oral 5FU) is becoming harder. Tonight he grabbed and twisted my arms for over 2 hours while screaming that he is being held prisoner…

A Caregiver's Life
I am posting this in this section because my husband suffers from Liver Cancer and I know that there are plenty of caregivers who read this particular section because they too have a loved one who suffers from Cancer! I have participated and read this page since my husband was diagnosed in 2009. Most of the time it has…

Has anybody here ever had low sodium levels? My husband has been in the hospital since Wednesday evening with low sodium levels and pneumonia. He saids that he was feeling real weak. 25 yr old husband with possible renal cancer
My husband is 24yrs old and had a 4.5cm mass found on his kidney 3 months ago. The radiologist and urologist decided it was a complex cyst, and we needed to rescan in 3 months. Well...the urologist called today and said the radiologist was more concerned this time, so a total nephrectomy is coming up. We meet with the…

My Turn
Not my turn to have cancer, but my turn to be the one that everyone is worried about. I'm throwing in the towel and going to see my doctor today about a bucket of symptoms I'm now starting to think are all part of menopause. Hot flashes, I could live with (don't get those anyway) - ditto the hairy chin, the weight gain,…

managing lung cancer cough
My mom's late stage ovarian cancer has spread to her lungs, and her occasional coughing spells are getting worse and more frequent. Besides codeine cough syrup, do any of you know of other ways to manage the cough? I did some research that suggested inhaling steam, but wondered if anyone tried it.

New to all of this....
Hello, my 86yr old dad was just diagnosed with stage 4 non-hodgkins lymphoma. Because of his already ill health, weakened condition, dr. is only giving us a time-frame of "months" (because dad does not wish any treatment or want to "fight" this). Needless to say, many many decisions to make very soon. I simply want to…

dealing with a borderline sibling while caring for dad
Does anyone have any tips one dealing with the out-of-town borderline sibling? Our dependent dad has stage 4 melanoma, in the brain and lungs, and he is doing "OK" at the moment, all things considered. Not so sound trite, I know she has a very real problem of her own (but will not get help), but I cannot handle it and have…

Need a better frame of mind!
I am overwhelmed with sadness. Her diagnosos came only 2 months ago. Lung cancer that had also moved to her brain. They radiated her brain and the maintenance medication has made a vegetable of her. She is 77. Overcome many a health issue before but it seems she just isn't going to take the next 6 months of chemo standing…

a poem titled "Will We Ever Know"
Will We Ever Know Tears are inseparable from cancer In a similar way compassion is bound to our hearts wings Cancer leaves an undeniable grip on us as we breathe its danger Upon hearing about someone’s battle and all that cancer brings Our very steps are stopped in their tracks Before we can catch our fleeting breath A…

It's Gettin to Me
Watching her strength, stamina, memory and just caring slowly disappear is really getting to me. Going from a patient, do anything I can, caring husband when she's awake to an angry, resentful, don't give a **** about the world zombie when she is asleep. I can't accept this torture she is having to endure as part of any…

dad hovering between reality and denial about his health
Taking dad for a followup with his Onc tomorrow. Finished round 3 of 160 mg Temodar (3 wks on/ 1 off) which is treating stage 4 melanoma with numerous lung/ brain mets. During the first week of the last round I had to take him to ER for chest pains. Not his heart, best estimate was tumor pain. (Had been very lethargic,…

having more kids .. uknown... :(
My daughter just asked me if I had a baby in my tummy? I wish so badly I could say yes honey! I hate that an innocent question from my 5 year old would not get me so down. I wish I could see into the future and know that indeed we will be able to get past this hurdle and be able to live long happy lives and be able to have…
