Encouraging visit with my Onc on Friday
I saw my Onc on Friday...it was very encouraging. He only needs to see me every six weeks, not every three like I assumed. (Of course, I'm supposed to call or email if something comes up in between.) And, he told me (I didn't know this part) that there are so few cancer cells in those little lymph nodes that they're not…

wbc question
How long does it take for your wbc to go back up after chemo? mine is 2.9 and the Dr. and nurse said that's OK. i really don't remember what it used to be before chemo. I finished chemo at the end of January 2011 and finished radiation the first week in April. HUGS Mollyz

Is it useful to measure hormones even though my period came back?
Hi everyone, I just got my second period post chemo. Of course I'm most happy about that! I'm only 29 and the idea of already being permanently menopausal did not thrill me. What I wonder is this: is there a way to measure my hormone levels so that I can learn "how close to menopause I am"? How may years forward I was…

Me- A year and a half after finishing CHEMO
I might not post as much as I used to but I still check the boards and try to catch up on what is going on with all of the Kindred Spirits. All is well with me except for the side effects that come with Femara. Hugs to all and sending prayers for all those that need them. Donna

this is odd, but people are saying I am starting to walk funny....????
For a couple of months people are telling me that my gait is now side to side---sea legs, waddling...OMG. My weight is the same, nothing much has changed. My feet don't hurt, sometimes groin pain. Any ideas....?? I started to worry of a new cancer popping up. :(

treatment options
I have completed 3 of 6 treatments of Taxotere/Cytoxan/Herceptin. I was dx 6/11 with Stage 3 invasive lobular breast cancer. Had bilateral mastectomy (positive nodes) with reconstruction end of July. I see that many of you had only 4 cycles of chemo and I am SO ready to be done. I am 66 and am questioning the value of 2…

Didn't embarrass myself, whew!
Today I was a "model" in a breast cancer survivors style show. I was both the youngest (48) and newest (11 months) survivor involved. There were about 20 of us including 1 physician and several staff members from the local cancer center(not survivors). I am happy to report that I did not fall, trip, or do any other…

My new photo
Several of you have complimented me on my new photo. Thank you. Yep, this is my wig and permanent make-up (brows and liner). It's been 13 months since chemo and my head hair is still extremely sparse and not fit for public viewing. My eyelashes are still rather puny but with a lot of mascara, they're ok. Haven't worn my…

Sobbing - Emotionally Confused - New Meds
I'm still feeling physically run down and trying to stay healthy while trying to get ready to move. I've been having nightmares again. Scenarios of recurrence. I wake up feeling deeply disturbed and scared. I explained this to my psychiatrist this past week. She's hoping that once we move into our new home I will be able…

Some Venting
Seems like I take 2 steps forward and 10 back. I've been struggling to get back to some normalcy. In June of 2011 it was a year that I had completed all treatment. I have a real problem fighting off infection. I've had bronchitis since the beginning of Sept. and have started my 2nd round of prednisone and my 4th…

ANOTHER new one!
The plan was to continue Abraxane until a scan in the middle of November - THAT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. Since I could never have any kind of surgery to remove the cancer, (too extensive and in too many places), it is easily detected in my left breast so we can see if the tumors are responding to treatment or not. What's…

Gearing up to do Battle with the Beast...you know, "We do what we have to do, so we can do what we w
Well sisters, my latest liver scan shows the liver cancer has indeed spread..not a whole lot, and nothing to lose my mind about. Which is good, as I have amost no brains left by this point. LOL My pain seems to be caused by the fact that the liver mets is pushing on myriad nerve endings. Course of action? (sigh) chemo~ in…

When do you find out margins?
I am new to this site and am reading through many topics and can see this is an absolutely wonderful networking site. While I'm certainly not happy to have been diagnosed at 42 I feel I have become a member of an elite group of amazing woman. I was diagnosed Sept 14, 2011 with IDC. They are saying stage 1. I also had a…

Gyn redux
Here I go again. So as you may remember, my "baseline" pelvic ultrasound in August showed endometrial thickening, an ovarian cyst and a fibroid... triggering an endometrial biopsy and the recommendation of either a hyst or every 3 month ultrasounds. The 1st guy I saw regarding the hyst said he would only do an abdominal…

What is a diagnostic mammogram?
I'm having one next week. I've been told that when I leave,I will know what the lump is. How is it different than a regular mammo? Above all, will it hurt more than the regular mammo? I'm very proud to report that I am not freaking out. Whatever happens, happens. NO FEAR!

diagnosed 10/7/2011
Hi, I'm newly diagnosed, trying to decide which surgery option and I see the oncologist today for the first time. The surgeon said I would most likely have to have chemo, I didn't want to hear that. I know I'll get through this but I can't say I'm not scared. Does most everyone have to have chemo? They said because of my…
