To port or not to port.......
Just wondering what everyone thinks.... I had to do 4 rounds of C/T. The doctor told me that he was going to get me an appointment to get a port put in, but he didn't before my first chemo. It wasn't that bad (the IV part anyway) so I asked him if I could just do the chemo without the port. He said that I could, so I…

Hi, I'm new to the group. I just had a mastectomy done on Monday and had a question. Is it normal to have terrible pain when trying to get out of bed? I feel like my whole right side is going to cave in. My husband has to lift me up so I can get up. thanks for the help.

I told you I am either a crazy-lady or an optimist...you be the judge!!!
As most of you know, I recently went to the ER ( Monday, to be exact) and was told that I have fluid on my rt lung..I already had fluid on my lung which had BC cells in it when I was re-dx last May, and I have been responding well to the Tamoxifen. Well, yeah, up until finding cancer in the lymphnode of the previously non…

Ativan
Can anyone give me some help with this? My dr. prescribed Ativan for me due to occasional depression but I didn't take any yet. Well today I had to go for an MRI for an unrelated-to-breast-cancer reason (pinched nerve in my neck). My General dr. told me to take an Ativan for anxiety prior to the MRI (I have claustrophia…

Implants
Anybody do implants after radiation? I've talked to 2 different docs. One wants to do Lattisimus flap with silicone implants underneath (one surgery, no expanders). The other wants to do expanders then silicone implants with xenoderm. I really believed I wanted the 2nd one but can't seem to stay off the internet and now…

Estrogen + Question
Hi Ladies! Just had a curiosity. My tumor was rich in estrogen (99%). I know many women have the same case. I was suggested I take the chemo treatment from my Dr., as well as the 5-year pill to help stop the estrogen. Now, what happens after this period? I am 32, and will probably continue to have my periods by the time…

Post Lumpectomy Question
Hi ALL again! :) I had a lumpectomy done back on Jan. 28th. Had to go back for a re-excision Feb. 23. All clear margins - THANK GOD. But I had a question for you who have been through this before. My breast doesn't feel the same - not that I expect it to either - but it looks like there is a lot of scar tissue. When the…

Pity Party
Hi! Haven't been on in a while, but... I need to know if this is "normal" or if I'm losing it. I have been done with active treatment since January 7th. I'm taking Arimidex for the next 5 years. I I'm feeling okay, except tired and my joints ache, but nothing horrendous. I'm down, and I'm not sure why. I would hate to…

Hi All-- As some of you may already know, I am getting ready to go through chemo (next couple of weeks) soon. I know some people work through this treatment and some don't. Advice on sleep meds anyone?
I'm in the midst of chemo and wondering how much sleep med. might be too much? I often walk around somewhat exhausted from lack of sleep, rather than take too much, but would love to hear some experiences from others...Am I wrong to think that taking Ambien or Atavan (generic name Lorazepam) more often now, could throw off…

Surgery date
I will be going in for my lumectomy on 3/22/11. My first HER2 test was inconclusive so they had to send off for a FISH test to Mayo Clinic. We suspect the answer to this will be back prior to the surgery date. The good news is that all the imaging tests seem to indicate that the tumor is about 2 1/2 cm. So if it is HER2 we…

Two Irish mothers, Kate and Lorna were talking about their sons. Kate says, 'My Patrick is such a saint. He works hard, doesn't smoke, and he hasn't so much as looked at a woman in over two years.'
