Energy ... come home!
I am 1 month post radiation. Handled rads fine although most of my energy left me. I suppose I expected it to return but it hasn't. Once again, I rely on my "sisters" to help me out. I have tried to slowly increase my activity but the energy is just not there. I return to Oncologist and primary Physician in August but…

zometa and port?
I am just getting zometa once a month, but can only use my right arm for infusions. My "good" vein is too scarred to use any more--getting stuck a few times before we can find a vein each month. I am thinking about asking for a port, but not sure it is a great idea for once a month--risks vs benefits. Anyone else just on…

DCIS and depression
I had horrible side effects through radiation therapy. I was finished on 5/28 and am still having side effects. 2 weeks ago Monday, I was put back on bed-rest because the part that was radiated was painful. I am still having nausea, borderline migraines, shortness of breath, extreme fatigue and the pain is still there but…

New diagnosis, new to this community
Hi, my name is Jennifer and I was diagnosed with a grade III IDC last week. I'll be having the lumpectomy on Thursday (7/29/10). That's when the staging process will begin. The mammogram indicated that the lymph nodes may already be involved. The tumor is 2.3cm X 1.8cm. I am 39 with no family history of breast cancer, so…

Am I crazy? Is this just coincidence?
My joints have been bothering me for a long time. Especially my elbows. With my recent back troubles, I was getting to my wits' end...my back, wrists, and elbows were leading me to believe I was entering arthritis. I was taking all the meds the doc gave me to help my back, and it was keeping the pain at bay, but my ability…

Reporting In After A Month
Well, we have been in Ruidoso, NM for just short of one month, and I wanted to let everyone know that the change in how feel has been wonderful. Living in East Texas has it's perks, but the summer heat has been horrible this year, leaving me listless, lathargic, and basically not getting out of the house in order to stay…

chances
I will ask my oncologist this question but I had DCIS. Tried tamoxifen but it caused the rare side effect of depression. Depression got pretty bad. Now I'm on Arimedex and have lots of joint pain. I think I read somewhere that my chance of breast cancer reoccurance is 4% and with Arimedex it's cut to 2%. Am I wrong? I'm…

I started my first of 12 weekly Taxol treatments last Monday. I completed 4 rounds of AC about 3 weeks ago. I felt pretty good until Thursday, then every day thereafter I have had stomach problems. I have been uncomfortable with mostly everyday but last night I was up with severe pain and discomfort with diarrhea. Has…

I saw your post under my discussion regarding Philly doctors, I live in Northeast Philly. I go to Einstein for treatment now, i have been going there for 2 years. I was very happy with their treatment, however, i think that my doctor missed my reoccurence,so now i am having second thoughts. Have you ever heard of Fox Chase…

An Inconvenient Cancer
None of us want this, none of us would have chosen it, but I'd rather it be me than my daughter. What is inconvenient? The plumbing backing up on Thanksgiving, the one day a year when you are doing all the cooking and the guests have begun to arrive. You're not about to pay a plumber triple digits to fix it, instead you…

To canjuncutie - about losing a breast . . .
Hi, Canjuncutie . . . I saw your post on another thread about losing a breast and trying to get information from others who have been there. There are others on this site who have been through that - and I am one of them. I lost my rt breast to a stage 1B cancer (under 2 cm and micrometasteses in two sentinel lymph nodes -…

Well ladies, your dream has partially come true. I am going back to work on Monday. I do not know how long I will be there, I hoping about 4-6 hours (8 would make my day). I'm looking for another breast cancer patient who has done 16 rounds of chemotherapy. I have had 4 adriamycin/cytoxin and 12 rounds of taxol. Sports bra
Had the toughest time getting a sports bra that ; 1) opens from the front 2) has max support 3) does not have an underwire. Should not be that difficult. Well 7 stores later I found one at jc penny ( it was a med support going to use it to sleep in. I did find one that meet all of my PS requirements at ****'s and academy.…

I am kind of worried
I am kind of worried that something may be going on. I don't know if this is normal or not so maybe someone else has had this happen. I finished rads on 7/2 and was feeling fatigued. I started to feel better after about a week and was back to working 6 hr. days. This past week I worked a few more hours and felt ok until…

How can a surgeon do a lumpectomy on something that is no longer there?
Does this make any sense to you? Now that my 4.5 cm tumor is no longer there and I still have more chemo to do, and by then if it's completely disappeared then how do they go and cut something away that is missing? I know I don't have the eduction a doctor does but to me this is way beyond my comprehension? I'm sticking…

My First Chemo this past Wednesday
So it's been 3 days since I started my chemo rounds, and while I really haven't had much symptoms, the major issue I'm having is that feeling of fatigue that hits me in the early afternoon, and still a bit of the nausea, but that's controlled with the other meds that the Dr. prescribed. I just wish I could go out the door…

Anyone else opt not to get a port?
Met my onc this week. I need 6 treatments of taxitere and carboplatin and a year of herceptin, along with radiation and hormone blocking. He said I could get a port put in but didn't have to do so. My 18 year old son's friend died last December from an infection in his chest port (he was battling childhood leukemia). My…

Contacted Road to Recovery
I contacted Road to Recovery yesterday to see if I could get a ride to and from my 1st chemo appt. This way my husband won't have to take yet another day off from…

New Flower update - I have survived my first week at my new job
Dear pink sisters Thank you for asking, I made it! My first week at my new job!!!. The past two weeks were really intense: we moved, I change medications, and started a new job. I felt like I was losing my mind, so I ask my oncologist for Ativan (I got this idea from our earlier board discussion). Just two pills really…

another Wal Mart story
I loved Rene's WalMart story so thought I would add mine. I was in WM on Thursday. Like Rene and others have said people will usually just kinda look my way and smile or nod. I do not have a port but wear a bandana nearly all the time so you can tell theres no hair. This lady approached me and ask me if I was in treatment.…

I just wanted to let all of you know that my reconstruction revision surgery yesterday went well and I'm now pleased with my results.
