Nipple Guards
Having nipple reconstruction tomorrow with minor scar revision. I am having MAJOR apprehension about the nipple guards. I don't know at all what to expect. I have heard "very uncomfortable" and "minor inconvenience." Will I look like Madonna until Monday? How in the world will I attend the Little League Machine Pitch…

What do you consider your 'cancerversary'?
Just wonder what other's thought. The day you were DX'd? The day you started/ended chemo? The day you had surgery? The day you started/finished rads? The day of your first scan that showed NED? I'm not sure which I think. Susan

I Absolutely Hate My Surgeon
I went to see him last Thursday to hear the results of my MRI, at that time I told him "NO" I didn't want any reconstruction, he said I have to go and see a plastic surgeon to hear all my options, then after that if I still don't want any reconstruction then he will take off both of my breats on July 9th. So this morning I…

Do something special for your Cancerversary?
A year ago today I heard the words, "You have breast cancer" from my PCP. I consider this my cancerversary since, from that day forward, my life was changed. What did you do for your cancerversary? I'm thinking of buying a cake with those horrible words on it, then slicing through it and stabbing it! (ooo, still in anger…

Summer recipes
How about sharing some fun summer recipes? Here is a cobbler that I made for the first time last night. The guys really loved it. I used about 1 cup fresh fat Mississippi blueberries and 1 cup fresh Georgia peaches. It was so easy too! Also, I added a pinch of cinammon to the sugar topping mixture and a dash of vanilla and…

silicone or saline?
does anyone have any thoughts or experiences they would like to share on choosing between silicone and saline implants? I've had a double mast with expanders and am going in for final reconstruction next month. I know the up side to silicone is a softer feel but they have to be checked periodically by MRI for leaks. Any…

Just curious, if you have a strong family history...
Just curious, if you have s strong family history (as I do), did you have the genetic testing and did you test positive or negative? My sister and I both did the testing (many years apart) and we both tested negative for BRCA1 & 2. The oncologist says that we have a gene, but they just don't have a test for it yet.

Prayer for tonight (just a suggestion)
First of all, I want to thank Traci again for such a wonderful idea! I told my husband about it (he thinks you're all pretty great, too!) and he's going to light a candle with me tonight at 7:00. I work for a religious congregation (nuns) and one of the sisters gave me this prayer when she heard I had breast cancer. I…

Medical tape
I am very allergic to medical tape, it takes my skin off. I plan on telling my surgeon at pre-op visit. What are the other options and how big of a complication does this create?

What is a Warrior?
I wrote this poem and posted it back in August of 2009. I thought that I would post it again. What is a warrior? I used to know. It was a fierce person Armed with a bow. They’d fight off invaders That threatened their lands. With spears, with guns And even their hands. They wouldn’t stop fighting, Until they won. They…

Insurance approved my treatment of Avastain and Abraxene
Looks like my insurance will be covering my treatment of Avastain, they are stating that they never denied it even though i have a copy of the denial letter. I believe it was because I called them and told them I was going to contact the media and let them know that they are denying FDA approved treatment for breast cancer…

My bilateral mastectomies are next Tuesday and I don't own clothes that open in the front. Because of shoulder issues I have to carefully put one hand in sleeve and pull over head.
