Nicest thing....
The nicest thing happened to me today. I was in Kohls buying my rad approved cotton bras and met a one year survivor in line. I told her I was starting my rads on Monday and she gave me a lot of encouragement and talked with me while walking out to our trucks. I told her I was impressed on how much of her hair had grown…

ROLL CALL: Weekend before Thanksgiving plans?!
Well, ladies, I'm feeling a bit subdued today. Some of it has to do with that gov. taskforce guidelines on mammography. There are some good discussions about it over on youngsurvival.org if anyone wants to check it out. I started a (kind of depressing) thread over there about some issues with these guidelines and having…

reconstruction after rads-any success stories?
I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon next week to begin discussing reconstruction. Has anyone had a good outcome after radiation? It seems like there are only discussions about problems. I am undecided at this point as to what to do. Thanks-

Failed reconstructions after mastectomy
Hi. I am going to schedule my 8th surgery soon to fix the problems I have had during attempted reconstruction. I had a silicone breast implant leak in 3 weeks post implant. I knew because it dissolved the stitches and skin and fell down my stomach during a shower. I was red skinned during the expansion, but didn't know…

Drinking while on chemo
I know (because I've been told) that I shouldn't drink while on chemo, but I really don't understand why. I've been meaning to ask my onc but I usually have so many questions that I forget about that one, as it's not a priority but really just want to know why. The vitamin thing I understand. Does anyone know why?

Guess I'm still sharing the Moopster with that NED guy...
Okay, so yesterday (11/18/2009) was Moopy's first "cancerversary." She really didn't want to make a big deal of it because she was also scheduled for 3 CT scans yesterday morning. As we all know too well, scanxiety can take the joy out of just about anything. But the technician who administered the CT scans was very smiley…

OMG....What a surprise!
You probably already guessed it, but I was the next recipient of the secret sister ornament exchange!! It couldn't have been timed any better. I was feeling down (long, long road to recovery) and managed to pick up a cold from the only venture out of my house, since surgery, to the Onc's office! That is the reason you have…

Some Good News from my Onc
Had a checkup with my onc today and she said there is definitely some reduction in my tumors, in fact she couldn't feel them, nor the one in the lymph node area. Femara is doing its job, which I was questioning. Before I started on Femara my tumors were 2.2cm and 1.5cm, another smaller one and lump in lymph node. Both the…

Question for MGM42
Marilyn - I remember your post back in October, I believe. about your struggle with Arimidex. I just saw my oncologist yesterday and they switched me from Tamoxefin to Arimidx because I had an "intemediate" result on my CYP26D test. I'm just wondering what kind of problems you had with Arimidex and if you've had any better…

Surgeon vs. Oncologist
This is my latest dilemma. My last treatment of Chemo was on October 26th. My Oncolgist said it was time to see the surgeon to determine is I was ready for surgery.(did this the 12th) My tumor started at 3cm. After the 1st round, no change, 2nd it got down to 2cm. My gut feeling said I would probably do at least 1 more…

Found a new lump after BC & would like some input
A week ago, I was at a party & listening intently to conversations while stroking the inside of my knee. I didn't realize why -- there was a lump there, hard, rolling, connected to something. I got the exact same response in my gut instinct as I did with the tumor in the breast. That rock bottom NOOO! I am about to go to…

Donald and Daisy
Donald Duck and Daisy Duck were spending the night together in a hotel room and Donald wanted to have sex with Daisy. The first thing Daisy asked was, 'Do you have a condom?' Donald frowned and said, 'No.' Daisy told Donald that if he didn't get a condom, they could not have sex. 'Maybe they sell them at the front desk,'…

SAW MY ONCO YESTERDAY
Well I went in for my 3 months check up and my onco (who I love a bunch) said I am doing GREAT!!!! HALLELUJAH!!! I explained to him that I tend to freak a bit when I feel poorly for any extended period and he went on to reassure me that as of today all is well. He explained that my first two battles with cancer were the…
