I see every other topic on the board, but this one - SEX. What happens from here? I am only 6 weeks post treatment, but I'm still a newly wed! My husband and I have been married almost 10 years and he has been a real sweetheart! When I hit the worst of my treatment, I told my husband that he had to stay away from that area…

PET results are in
Hi Everyone-- I had my PET scan yesterday, which was a follow-up to the one I had in May, which showed some activity in my upper vaginal area. Well, I got good news--yesterday's scan showed complete resolution of the activity--it's gone! I'm very relieved with this news, as the SUV in the vaginal area was over 7 in…

Joining for the 1st Time
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with anal cancer in April of this year. I completed 30 radiation treatments and two rounds of chemo. I have been looking for someone to talk to for a very long time. I have had some real challenges during my treatment, but now that I'm in recovery, I thought things would get easier, but…

Scar Tissue After Anal Chemo & Radiation?
Has anyone been told upon finding a "mass" that it might be scar tissue? We're waiting for test results, but wondered if anyone had ever been given this information by their doctor, i.e. scar tissue as opposed to tumor recurrence.....

Colostomy After Anal Cancer
My husband was diagnosed with anal cancer a year ago (squamous cell). It may have recurred (we will know within a week after several tests). Has anyone had this experience and if so, can you tell me if you had to have a colostomy? Any info you can give me about colostomy would be appreciated.

Pathology report
this is dottie again. i retrieved my pathology report from my hem'tectomy back in December of 2007 and it reads: "there is a focal area of the squamous epithelium showing high-grade squamous dysplasia (moderate to severe squamous dysplasia). Oncologist Follow-ups Post Treatment ?????
Question for those of you post treatment regarding follow-up visits to your oncologist. Post Treatment how often did you have follow-up visits with the oncologist and what occurred during the follow-up (blood work, etc.)??? I'm two months out and the oncologist was not particularly diligent during treatment, he seems to be…

Liver resection
Hi All, I had my appointment with a surgical oncologist Friday. I guess the good news is that I am definitely a candidate for surgery. He will be removing most, if not all of the left lobe. Unfortunately, he is going away on vacation for two weeks, but will schedule a date shortly after he returns. I'm very anxious to have…

anal cancer & treatment
I was diagnosed with anal cancer from what I thought was "just a hemorrhoid". I began chemo (mytomycin & 5FU) and radiation on 6/23/10. The skin being treated has started to burn and I'm using 2 creams and cornstarch talc for irritation. During my first round of 2 chemo treatments, I followed doctor advise and started…

Flavored water
I am having a terrible time finding something I enjoy drinking these days. Now that I am doing chemo again, I know I need to work at staying hydrated. As a rule I do not like flavored water. Too artificial tasting to me. My BF Teresa suggested I try Hint flavored water. On the heals of her recommendation I read about it in…

Thanks for thinkin' of me
I last posted on June 30th the day of my first chemo infusion. I just reread it and laughed at my comment "hope I don't hit the wall in a couple of days...". I would say now that it was an understatement. I felt unbelieveable energetic on Thursday (day following treatment) just at suggested by the infusion nurse, due to…

Dialators
In the various postings, vaginal dialators have been mentioned by several different women. Here is my really stupid question: How did you know whether you needed a dialator? Did you set up an appointment with a gynecologist to check for tissue damage? I think someone may have mentioned painful intercourse, but I am not…

Nausea tips
Just a quick little tip that a friend suggested for minor nausea. Ginger Chews - they are kind of like a candy. We found them at Whole Foods in the bulk food and nuts section. I also had an Rx for Compazine (prochlorperazine) for severe nausea but could only take that every 6 hours. Inbetween doses of that, I could nibble…

Leg and Hip Pains
While reading the thread about Lymphadema (ankle swelling), I noticed a lot of people mentioned aching in their legs and hips - especially at night while sleeping. washing hair
I got this figured out. After radiation tomorrow I will put on my bikini and have my sister wash my hair. They are taking weekly turns driving me to my appointments, bringing my groceries up, changing the litter boxes, etc. I got the first chemo pack off today and they checked my mouth. It's not thrush, but my tongue and…

side effects
Hey all, I've had a real hard time swallowing today. Any thoughts or comments? Also, I know there are wig and turban banks, does anyone know of places that will wash your hair? With the chemo line I can't do it without getting my PICC Line wet, and I'm starting to feel gross. Thanks, Melodie
